Shannon's a very bright and a very nice guy. I hope he does good and asthma does not put sticks in his wheel come saturday night.

How can anyone really hate this guy?
As much as I like Vitali, and I really do like Vitali.. I will be cheering for Shannon come saturday night.

I have always liked him , if he can come in somewhere around 240lbs , stay off the ropes and at least try and get ring centre , then he could be entertaining.

I think though he will come in at 260 - 265 , lay on the ropes and take a beating.

Shannon still being a legit heavyweight challenger is just testament to the general standards of the division.

Who would have thought TWELVE YEARS after Lennox Lewis brutalised him, he'd still find himself fighting for world titles.

Agreed Magic. Who would of thought Shannon would take those massive blows for 12th rounds? The guy earned alot of fans respect tonite, and proved he had a big heart and chin.

Briggs proved he has heart, he didn't quit on his stool....and he very easily could have. In fact, there were several times in the fight that the ref would have been completely justified in stopping it.

I think Shannon Briggs earned more respect with this loss than with his last 3 wins. After round 7 I couldn't imagine him going 5 more rounds, but he did.
It doesn't look like he took too much damage, he was surprisingly lucent in the postfight interview.
I expected something like grabrrrrrrlllllll... prrrrrttttt, I did it Adriaaaaaaaaaaan! or what not, but he was more articulate than most commentators I heard the last few weeks.

    2 thumbs up Shannon! :thumbsup

  12. Damn i never realized Briggs was so tough:yep he took a lot of punishment, and stayed on his feet, only Tex Cobb took that many shots wo going down.!!

Watched this fight with my father, who was into the sport of boxing big time in the 80s and 90s, he kept saying "Damn, Shannon is taking that punishment like he's trying to prove something... he cant and won't quit..."

Shannon tried, and he proved the world he's a tough cookie tonight. Big ups to Shannon, I feel a bit embarrassed saying he'd be there for three rounds, the blitz.. and then get the payday and walk away. Let's hope the payday was worth it, cus Shannon put his heart out there.

Classy post-fight interview and ridiculous display of heart and resilience.

Tough ******* did himself proud tonight, even in defeat.
