Mijares propensity to brawl at times when he's boxing, his southpaw stance, (although at times he does switch to orthadox), and his lack of one punch KO combined with Darchinyan's awkward crablike stance, ability to end the fight in one punch, and knowledge of what to do next time he lunges foward against an orthadox puncher with a jab, may spell UPSET. While Darchiniyan doesn't have a granite chin, he's got plenty of resolve and determination, and the considering Mijares is a southpaw fighter, the left hook that put D down for the count might not be in Mijares arsenal unless he decides to switch things up....which is a distinct possibility if Mijares is as good as people make him out to be. BUT if he doesn't...Darchinyan's stance makes it difficult to hit him without leaning in, which considering Mijares tendency to brawl, and the comment that he's made about Darchinyan being the smaller man he just might do. Fact is, you got to respect Darchinyan's power and I'm not entirely sold on Mijares boxing ability. I don't think he has the natural tallent nor the patience of Donaire, so don't be suprised if a straight pushes Mijares face back and sets him up for the finish or an overhand right puts Mijares right on his ass. It ain't beyond the realm of possibilities.... Anyway, I got D-Man by KO. Either that or he'll get outboxed by a relatively wide UD depending on your perspective or the only perspective that matters, the judges.
It's possible with someone like Vic., But I wouldn't bet on it. Mijares is a special type of fighter.
Vic nailed Donaire flush with the left several times and never got a reaction. I think there's a live chance that his power, at least against the elite at 115, isn't what it was at 112. Unless of course, you take Kirilov's approach and opt to block power punches face first. I have a feeling Mijares will have a better game plan. As for Mijares not being patient, I don't see how you say that if you closely watched the Munoz fight. He was almost maddeningly patient in that fight. As for not being as talented as Nonito, they're on a par offensively, but Mijares is light years ahead of him with his head movement and anticipation of punches. There is no good reason Mijares won't be able to time Vic's telegraphed lunges, and what he lacks in power he makes up for in precision. Hey, anyone's got a puncher's chance, especially a puncher. Go with your gut. I think Mijares makes a statement on Saturday and stops Vic inside of 10.
You man Nallege? No, I just know what I see. Miraes is very friggin good. And that's not to take anything from Montiel. That will be a TOUGH fight for Mijares. Don't forget though, Mark Too Sharp johnson beat Montiel in a big upset when Johnson was seen as washed up. Or at least way past prime.
Cristian Mijares is a different class of fighter. He is a technician, and will most likely make Vic look D level when they fight.
