If the fight was Cotto-Mayweather, and you were comparing Cotto to Chavez, I might get it, but I can't think of how Cotto's even remotely similar to Meldrick Taylor.
Divac you beat me to the punch, I was just going to say that, even Freddy-Wak says Cotto must be Chavez long lost son.
I dont know about this one man considering a lot of people have compared Cotto to Chavez. If anything Mosley vs Cotto was a better comparison.
Mosley is not a combination puncher like Taylor. He was also not in his prime. Cotto and Chavez' style aren't very similar. Except that they are both good body punchers they have not much else in common.
No, Richard Steele didnt. :yep I thought the stoppage was fine, there was always gonna be contraversy either way, think about it...... What if Steele let Taylor go on... JCC runs in, hammers him to the ground, the bell goes to end the fight & the `winner` gets his arm raised whilst lying on a stretcher.... thats ****in fantastic that is. Get my point. The REAL winner got the decision as Taylor was obviously more hurt at the end & why should 10 secs or so be the difference between champions, Taylor shouldnt be relying on the clock if he is the best in his business, Chavez never needed the clock, he just did what he did best, so did Meldrick & JC did more damage so he deserved his win. Ps. This fight was nowhere near the best fight Ive ever seen but it was still a good one.
but the end result will be the same with cotto beating margaritos body and him not being able to answer the ref. to continue fighting
Right, the man who was at the time considered the best P4P fighter in the world was a "punching bag fighter" and didn't even have a chance to win. Yeah, that makes perfect sense. There is however one (see, I'm nice) flaw in your logic. If any fighter today resembles Julio Cesar Chavez, it's Miguel Cotto, not Margarito. Margarito has a solid chance to win because he's got power, and unlike Chavez, Cotto doesn't have the sturdiest of chins, but this is Cotto's fight to win or lose. I expect this to be a great fight, but not that much like Chavez-Taylor.
