for about a minute after I got slapped around a few times until I told the coach Im not ready.. I kinda feel like a quitter... :-((
And it wasnt the pain that got to me. Let me explain a lil bit of my point of view here. I thought I was going to spar this other guy so I was prepared for sparring him then I end up with some other guy and as soon as we get to the middle of the ring he gives me a mean look... =/.. It gave me the idea that if I were to try and hit him all that would happen is he would wana hit me back even more. you know wat im sayin?
I guess it was mentally the pressure kinda got to me and I didnt wana get hurt cuz I told myself Im not doin this to get hurt for no reason. I just feel like if im prepared which I will be better now since I kinda know how it feels that I can give a better showing and maybe not get hurt AS BAD... you feel me?
Just get back in and spar. You're gonna get hit and sometimes it's going to hurt. That is the name of the game in combat sports.
Sounds like you're not ready for it yet. Unless the guy was much better. Or a psychopath. Just keep training, perhaps you can try again soon against someone else.
It wasnt so much him it was more my fault I blame myself more so cuz later on he sparred this real skinny kid and got hit repeatedly with 1-2's v_v...
I'm basically doing this to be the best. so i guess I should train harder and much more intensely to better prepare myself for the ring right?
Yeah thats right, but dont let it get to a point where your so worried on not getting hit that you forget your in a fight! If you focus so much on not getting hit, when you do get hit (and its going to happen) the hit will be much worse to you. Tell yourself that your going to get hit, but it doesnt mean anything because no punch is as bad as you may thing it is
If you aren't ready, then you aren't ready. It's better to go into it confident and ready to benefit from it rather than being worried. We have a kid in our gym who, the more he spars and thinks about it, the more he gets worked up. He's actually regressing by leaps and bounds because of his nerves. Wait until you are ready and spar with someone you feel safe sparring with. Good luck.
