I still believe Cotto would dismantle Mayweather.

I think Cotto would win on pts by work ethic. Ya gotta b aggressive with Miguel to give him problems. He overcame the aggressive Torres and Zab minus Margarito. I think PBf is too passive and feather fisted to give the Boriqua a loss.

would sure as hell make for an interesting fight.

I cant see Cotto winning most of early rounds, Floyd winning most of the late ones. Question becomes at what point would the tide turn into Floyd's favour?

Could end up something like a Hopkins vs Taylor I type fight... and no I'm not saying that Hopkins and Mayweather are exactly the same, and that Taylor and Cotto are exactly the same. I'm saying the fight could end up playing out similarly

 

Don't underestimate Floyd on the inside. He pretty much throttled all of Hatton's attempts to get going at close quarters.

Of course Cotto is bigger, stronger, and way better fundamentally, but Cotto would not be able to just walk inside and punk Floyd. He doesn't have superior footwork, and frankly, he's hasn't imposed himself physically on elite welters. Margarito walked him down, and Shane was primarily outboxed.

He has developed a very nice jab over the years though.

he failed to know that Floyd is a sharp puncher and Cotto is slow with his hands, feet and head. He will get hit and hit a lot. KO for Floyd is at 50 percent if he chooses to press it. Cotto doesn't have the talent or the skillset to beat mayweather and castillo was a much better fighter than cotto. Just look at the resume.

i think it will be a boring fight the first rounds as both are slow starters and would be feeling each other out. cotto has the best jab at welter and that might be his key to victory as well as his body punching. he'd be pumping that jab double jabbing until he'd find floyd, but floyd should have the cleaner punches. i think cotto might win the middle rounds with floyd winning the final. too close to call. i think miguel has the best chances to beat him, but it will be very tough. cotto would jab him like oscar and put pressure on him like castillo did. this fight should be happening:-(

 

Cotto is one of my favorite fighter but I never been so sure about that fight... Mayweather is so good defensively. I always prediected an UD W for Mayweather.

Man we have to see if Cotto is able to beat Clottey... I hope he will but everybody know it will be a hard fight.

I think it's odd that this "Cotto would beat Mayweather" mentality is back all of a sudden. He lost to Margarito and beat Michael Jennings. I figured whatever lengthy thread I started explaining why Floyd wins this fight would more than suffice following the Margarito loss. I like Cotto quite a bit, but he will be lucky to get by a healthy Clottey.
