I can and I have. I get what you're saying regarding not rehydrating 20lbs (FTR, Broner used to come in about 150 when he was campaigning at 135 IIRC) but Lopez looks stacked and still very much in shape at 156 and it's how his face looks at weigh ins that's the giveaway. He looks like a gaunt sunken-eyed cadaver and he slurs his words. He's bursting at the seems at 135 and is having to abstain from certain foods even out of camp to ensure his body is able to keep making it.

Don't see how one can't. I mean, does he need to be perfect or something??

Yep, people thinking he just decided not to throw simply don't know what they are looking at. All they see is one guy not throwing and losing rounds and then suddenly he's throwing and winning rounds. But the thing is there was a a reason why Loma wasn't throwing and that as you rightly put it was what Lopez was doing.

Loma is a very technical fighter, in many ways text book and like many such fighters the jab is a key part of his makeup as a fighter, look at the jab stats for the rounds. First 7 rounds he barely lands a jab, why because Lopez took his jab away. Loma as we all know is all about the angles and with the jab it's the same he likes to step to his right and throw a jab outside of his opponents lead hand, he did it time and again vs Campbell and Lopez figured that out and simply looked for the step to his outside, would slip inside it and then throw a right hand counter. This shut down Loma's jab.

But Loma being Loma, adapted in the later rounds, if you watch the fight again you see he stops stepping to his right and to the outisde of the lead hand, instead he steps forward and throws his jab on the inside of Lopez's lead hand. When he made that switch he started landing jabs in double digits and once the jab was established the rest of his arsenal came into play.

But then again in the last round Lopez made another adjustment. He finally realised Loma had changed how he was throwing the jab and because Loma wasn't trying to create the angles anymore and simply stepping in down the centre he started throwing counters right down the middle because he now wasn't dealing with a Loma who was trying to use angles like he usually does.

It was a fascinating fight with the change in momentum, far more technical than many realise it seems.

Have there been any numbers in recent fights on what they've weighed on fight night?

I'd agree that Lopez probably will be less effective if/when he moves up and have a hard time seeing him make a big splash at 147, if he goes up there.

But he's young and green, and I underestimated him for this fight for sure, so I might be wrong about this as well. In his late 20's he will have lots of more experience from this level and probably filled out to be big at 140, so perhaps he will have success even at 147. Who's to say really.

Loma's about 138 usually, not sure what Lopez comes in at but he's obviously rehydrating a fair bit given how ill he looks at the weigh in.
