Considering he is 43, I think Hopkins put on a great performance.

He was winning the first half of the fight. However Calzaghe got more confident and Hops just couldnt match his output.

I will say that all those with ridiculous predictions like Calzaghe TKO 4 have been silenced. Hopkins did have a very effective game plan and most of the 20-early 30s guys cant put on as good of a fight against Calzaghe as Hopkins did tonight.

Did you watch UFC 83? what a solid undercard and solid main event! UFC packed 21000 fans can boxing do that here in US? Boxing needs more KOs, younger fighters and better undercard fights.

You got a bit of explaining to do, here.

    Impressive doesn't equal winning, btw.

I had Joe winning 115-114, but Hop landed the harder shots and did make Joe miss almost 500 punches. At 43, thats damn impressive.

Hopkins did better than most people thought he would. Never hurt, never close to being stopped, just outhustled and outworked for the most part. Still a quality fighter who has a lot to be proud of. I mean, how many 43 year old guys could win rounds and hold their own against Joe Calzaghe?

    I disagree.

Hopkins didn't work an effective offense at all after the 4th round, and considering the man comes off victories over Winky and Tarver and considering the man's style, it's no surprise he was competitive.

I wasn't impressed with Hopkins because I felt he lossed comfortably, mainly due to the fact his inability to up his workrate to the level of Calzaghe, who is no spring chicken either.

Props to both fighters, I just wasn't impressed by Hopkins.

i was so impressed with hopkins tonight as a joe calzaghe fan, when he had the energy he threw great combos and closed the gap on calzaghe very fast not allowing joe get off any counters, his timing on the kd was impeccible and although he roughed joe up alot, did anyone expect anyone different, people who thought that joe wouldnt get credit for a close decision are ridiculous because both men thought a very good fight with completely opposing styles.hopkins caused joe problems all night and it must be said that early on hopkins did take joe's heart,it wasnt until the fourth round did we see calzaghe gain the confidence to come in fast on hopkins and throw out his jab with snap rather than paw it.

although i would never want a rematch of this fight everyone must credit both fighters for putting on an exhibition and giving their all.

enzo calzaghe, what a ****ing motivator btw,he really does know how to get a response out of his boy.

ps. joe cortez was awful and hopkins was amazing at throwing on the blindside.that aint any fanboyism, just the truth.

I agree. Hopkins still looked ageless in that fight, but you just can't expect him to win a slapping contest though. I thought he boxed beautifully, countered well, landed some good right hands, and put on a boxing lesson. I think I saw, maybe, one good straight left by Calzahge and the rest were a bunch of inaccurate slaps. All of the shots that he put anything behind were hitting air.
