I still think Hopkins looked impressive

    Although I disagree about the "slapping" (Calzaghe may not have sufficient power to stop great opponents, his punches are good enough), I do agree that the punch stats were inflated and didn't really paint the picture of what actually hapenned.

    It was a good strategy by bernard. He landed some good body shots and straight rights.

    Is there anything else Hopkins could have done besides up his workrate to put him in a better position?

    That is exactly why I was impressed with Hopkins. He did everything right, everything that he could do. He was never a high volume puncher, but at 43 he went the entire 12 rounds with Calzaghe, was never hurt, never in any trouble. He stunned Calzaghe a few times and got him to fight his fight in the early rounds.

    He did put together a few combos towards the end but he just doesnt have the energy to do much more. Hopkins lost only because he couldnt match the workrate, he showed a great strategy.
