I still think Ward fights Kovalev at the end of 2016.

His previous promoter is the main reason of Ward's success in Super 6.

Judges in Europe would not allow Ward to headbutt, excessively clinch, hold and hit, etc., so Goossen managing to have all fights in the U.S. ensured Ward's wins.

    http://www.latimes.com/la-sp-sn-andre-ward-withdraws-cotto-canelo-20151105-story.html

Ward's trainer, Virgil Hunter, told The Times in text messages Thursday that Ward has already begun rehabilitation and is considering a return date in early 2016.

Another individual close to Ward told The Times that Ward was seeking to fight at least once more in 2016 before pursuing an anticipated date against light-heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev by the end of the year. It’s unclear if the injury will alter those plans.

That's three fights in one year.

I do prefer to see GGG vs Canelo @160 but you have to fight a ppv star to become one and sometimes that could mean playing along with the divas, It's not right but It is what it is. And I think Golovkin beats Canelo at any circumctances, doesn't matter 155,156 or 157.

Kovalev is fighting the guy he already beat next, so there's no too many options for him out there so he should be the one to press for a fight with Ward to make an entrance to ppv scene since he's not getting Stevenson or Beterbiev anytime soon. Despite the terrible inactivity, Ward is still a top p4p fighter, he's a LHW olympic gold medalist which means the fight is easy to market. It's a fight that Kovalev would want so I don't think Ward will have to force his way to a mando spot or anything.

Do you think they already agreed on the purse split for Kovalev vs Ward? If they did wouldn't that be unfair to Kovalev if his value increase thru to the end of next year? Kovalev has to face top LHW while Ward can fight 2 bums and still get the title shot. But other fighters have to work their way up the rankings to get a title shot.

There's a video on Youtube where Ward admits that Dan Goosen did offer him fights during the lawsuits. He said Kessler was one of them and Anthony Dirrell was the other. Ward said he refused them because they were steps backward not forward. Ward is a liar. Like the Boone knockdown was the referee's fault? That's was a good one. :D

Then he ain't becoming a ppv star. Sorry man, that's just the way it is.

As for Kovalev-Ward, I was merely trying to reflect the Kovalev and Duva's view for the fight. It's a challenging, profitable and winnable fight for them so doesn't really matter who deserves what or what p4p rankings mean.

“The kid is so driven, that he started his distance [running] too soon,” Hunter said. “He inflamed some areas that unfortunately he needs use of daily. This caused swelling that wouldn’t go away. When he showed me the swelling, I made the difficult decision to cancel his bout.
    Virgil Hunter LA Times

I guess Virgil is a doctor now that diagnosis injuries!

You do know one of those fight's they were both willing to make during this period was GGG, Golovkin was just as unwilling to fight then as he is now despite the talk.

OK. And I still think Santy Cause is going to come down my chimney with a big bag of gifts on December 25th, 2015.
