I strongly believe Martin Murray would be a real test-fight for Gennady

Murray will be Golovkin's mandatory soon enough, as previously mentioned. HBO would be happy to have Murray on the show since he did a better job vs Martinez than Macklin did, gave Sturm all he could handle, and he's durable. They'll market him out like some kind of wall Golovkin will have trouble breaking. Let's face it, Murray's arsenal isn't very complex and he's tough enough to make it a step up in terms of hyping Golovkin's raw power. Kellerman will jizz his pants.

Might give him a good workout but a doubt it would be much of a "test", more like a tough sparring session.

I have a feeling Martinez would lose somehow his WBC strap against Cotto, then WBC forces somehow Cotto to fight Quillin, then Quillin gets the decision and there you have the future opponent for Floyd's last fight i.e Peter Quillin. :think

I thought Murray fought a very smart and conservative fight early which frustrated Sergio then after the knockdown and what appeared to be a reinjured knee he took solid control of the fight but I thought may or may not have given away too many early rounds with inactivity

close fight but strategically I felt Murray fought the correct fight

How is he glass jawed?Certainly not a coward. But I wouldn't give Martin much chance.Opponents for Golovkin are very thin on the ground in his own division. He doesn't seem to be calling super middles out,but he may have to.

Styles make fights. Using Sergio as a barometer isn't going to be that useful here. I think barker would outbox Murray despite murray having more success with Sergio. Genuinely think GGG is all wrong for Murray and would just tee off on him. Murray v Macklin would still be a toss up IMO and well worth watching. GGG prob beats Murray, Barker, geale, Sturm at a canter. Should get to Quillin easy enough and would like to see Sergio take up the challenge and take a fight with him. I mean he was happy enough to chase a fight with junior, make the fight we all want!

The WBC? How? Quillin is WBO champ.

I guess Showtime & GBP could offer Cotto a sh1t ton of cash to fight Quillin in NYC, as much as HBO & K2 will likely try to secure rights to the winner of the fight. Cotto is a free agent if I recall correctly, and rights to Martinez belong to HBO. GBP and Quillin are SOL if Martinez wins.

yeah, Murray had a similar game plan for the fight with Sergio as Barker had. The difference between Murray and Barker is that Murray is a much physically stronger fighter and he has a better composure than Barker, so these things helped Murray to beat Sergio.

WBC is know for their bias and shi.t. Maybe WBC would rank Quillin as the No 1 mandatory challenger for Cotto's WBC MW strap and force this fight to happen. :think

Also I agree, SHO & GPB making a good offer to Cotto to unify with Quillin is another good possible option.

God that would be a boring fight. Murray would probably have moments but will hide behind his defence after he feels the power.

maybe, but if Cotto would get the w, most probably GBP & SHO would offer him a good amount of $$ to unify with Quillin.
