I strongly believe Martin Murray would be a real test-fight for Gennady

Fair enough. I always thought barker has actually neglected his ability to box and is actually far better when he boxes rather than trying to trade and think he could well coast to a decision against the to my mind too defensive Murray. I'm one of the people who didn't think Murray won either the Sturm or Sergio fight so am not really sold on him. It's an interesting MW division at the moment with plenty of even match ups available.

I don't think the Martinez fight was a robbery. I think it was a close close fight, that Martinez closed the show in by winning the 12th round. I think a close win for either guy, or a draw, is reasonable.

As for G vs Murray. Its the third best available fight for him right now, behind Martinez and Chavez.

Murray is big, durable, strong and a relatively high level opponent. It would be a good test for Golovkins power to see if he can stop a fighter like Murray.

Yeah, your spot on about Barker neglecting his boxing and being drawn into brawls.
I don't think Murray is too defensive, i just think he fought more conservatively against Sturm and Martinez as this was a big jump up in class for him.
Murray will have learned a lot in those two fights, and will be a better fighter for the experience.A busier Murray is a handful for anybody at 160 imo, he has good skills, good defense, and has the pop to keep his opponents thinking.

Exactly how i see things, but not sure i'd agree about Chavez being rated so highly in a packed division.

Agreed Martin Murray isn't going to stopped by GGG. Triple could find himself on the floor if he disrespected on Martin bullish strength

Murray is tough but does not remotely posses the skills to hear the final bell vs GGG

I rewatched Martinez vs Murray fight a few times even with the sound off :D and I can tell you that Murray beat him there in Argentina. Murray showed that he's a strong fighter with some good boxing skills. He had a good game plan / strategy vs Martinez and he was able to execute it.

I'm pretty sure Martinez didn't get old and shot overnight after the Jr fight. He was the same fighter in the Murray fight too.

Anyway, this is the fight I want to see 3G next. Also I think Murray beats Quillin and Barker.

Watch this fight with the sound off and be careful at what does Murray and how he makes Sergio's attack to be almost ineffective. Martinez looks like he hasn't no power to trouble Murray.

I'm telling you, this guy Murray is no joke and he'd give 3G a very competitive fight IMO.

Didn't Murray get locked up for winning a street fight?

I have to say i do think murray is a very good test for ggg. Outside of the big stars being mentioned as possible future opponents like froch, ward and martinez i actually think it would be the toughest fight that ggg could take.

Murray is big and very strong. This is an area in which gennady normally has an advantage and he uses it to great affect. He would not be able to push murray around. Murray has a good tight defence and takes a good shot too. But its the nature of his defence for me that makes him a tough fight.

I dont think guys who move will have success against ggg. He is too good at cutting off the ring and therefore lots of movement is going to sap energy while being ineffective. this combined with the heaviness of ggg's body shots would eventually slow this type of fighter down and they will be stopped in the mid to late rounds in many instances.

i think we saw in the stevens fight that a tight high guard was effective to some degree. unfortunately for stevens he wasnt strong enough to hold the centre ring and stay off the ropes. i think murray might be able to achieve this.

This would be a very good fight... Murray is probably the #2 guy in the division behind GGG. He would beat Quillin and Barker no problem.

yeah, 3G has a very good ability to cut the ring off, so a guy like Sergio , especially this faded version of Sergio would not last too much in the ring with 3G.

Murray and probably Canelo ? (assuming he'll move up @ 160 soon) would give 3G some competitive fights.
