I suspect I know why Arreola management picked Vitali

Simply because Vitali is the current easiest & quickest route to a belt & Arreola has a short prime shelf life

Wlad is all wrong for Arreola and will be around for a long time yet. He'd be fleet footed enough to keep Arreola at the end of his jab all night feeding him 1/2 after 1/2 till a KO so no belt here unless Povetkin upsets Wlad.

Both Haye/Valuev will be tied up with Ruiz & the WBA politics for a long time yet.

Arreola's management know he is not getting younger. They know that even though he is young his boxing style and lifestyle will progressively catch up with him as he ages. He keeps putting on weight and he certainly won't get slower so this is simply them making the best of a bad situation. Arreola must strike now hence why the picked the one available guy who they *may* be able to catch on the slide. Arreola wilkl bull rush Vitali at the start mark my words. They know he's aging they know his footwork is going and his speed a bit too so they're striking now in the hope they might be able to get the upset someone else might have if they opted out on this chance. A loss here won't be the end of Arreola, he could lose and still do relatively well later perhaps.

The bottom line is as Arreola's not going to become a technical marvel over his career. Youth, power and decent speed are his traits and they won't last. When that bell rings he's going for the kill, he'll go out like a Spartan either taking Vitali out or going out himself.

This fight won't go past 6 rounds which is why I give Arreola a better chance than many here on ESB seem to be giving. It'll be mental!!!

The bottom line is the Klitschko's bring the highest paydays for their opponents in the Heavyweight Division.

I hope you are correct as the heavyweight division needs some decent title fights badly but I just cant see it.
Against Wlad he would have a punchers chance but with Vit I dont think he even has that, this has got one sided beatdown written all over it for me.

Tell david Haye that! (sorry I couldn't resist! :good)

I agree but this is why I think Arreola will just go all out. To try and box or plod like Gomez/Peter is folly. He MUST attack relenttlessly the second that bell rings.

Vitali is a good counter puncher even now. Better than his brother actually. In the Mccline fight, Arreola was bothered by a few left hooks on the inside as he was coming in. Vitali actually prefers an aggressive fighter to come to him so if Arreola goes that route, it plays right into VK's hands.

Arreola is getting stopped. They're cashing out.

In the long standing tradition of Vitali opponents, Chris Arreola will come in at the heaviest weight of his career. He's already off to a good start.

Why do all of Vitali's top opponents show up in a grotesque shape?

Taken from the interview on ESB's front page with Arreola's trainer:

. Chris has a crowd-pleasing style and we're expecting to win; despite what some of your readers on the web site say. I don't mind the criticism and the comments, but some guys attack Chris almost on a personal level, when they don't even know him! And some of what they say is just stupid.

H.R: No, we've had no problems whatsoever. Dan Goossen had no problems and Al Haymon had no problems. I don't know about what Haye was asked to sign, but at the same time, why shouldn't the Klitschkos make demands of him? It's not as if he's earned a fight with them. Okay, he was a great cruiserweight champion and he achieved a lot there, but at heavyweight he's done nothing. Chris has been a heavyweight his entire career and he's earned this fight way more than Haye earned one. It's a big jump, too [for Haye to go up to heavyweight]. I mean, if you go up from 140-pounds to 147, you can do well and win. But from cruiser to heavyweight, you're talking a good 30 or 40 pounds. It's a lot different and a lot more difficult.

H.R: No, actually we're going to stand on the outside and try to win a boxing contest! (laughs) No, you're pretty much right in what you say. It would be total B.S if I said we were going to try and box on the outside - there's no way we could win the fight like that.

Lol - seems I was spot on! Pretty much exactly as I summed it up before ESB posted this.

P.S. Left the Haye quote in there:good for good measure!

Vitaly the easiest path? I think Cristobal will smell his feet after 3 rounds.

lol. vitali is gonna tear this pretender apart. Vitali feasts on guys that walk to him. He is an excellent counter-puncher and will hit arreola at will while maintaing distance. Vitali has more trouble with skilled boxers like Lewis, Byrd eg...

Easiest path? Vitali is clearly the best heavyweight in the world. They'll never fight but he would even mop the floor with Wlad too.
