You can't discount someone's ATG ranking because they don't have the power to hurt someone or have a high KO rate. The standards need to apply fairly, otherwise it's just bias.
Great Thread, baffled me too why people love Floyd so much on here, yet the fans in the arena all boo him out the building, rightly so, as he's so boring. People talk about sweet science on here, running for 12 rounds aint no damn sweet science.
Winning is winning and you can't argue that. You can argue excitement, fan influence, fan perspective, and the runoff, the but you can't argue winning. The problem is, you think boos are bad. Boos are good. Very good, at least at tbe's level
In other words, you hate certain type of fighters and you're projecting on the rest of the world. atsch Why couldn't you title it I love Manny Pacqauio and midgets instead? That's your REAL message. I dislike fighters and you don't see me creating a whine thread about them.
The booing has been great for PBF's career he's the highest paid athlete in the world and the face of boxing. You can't argue otherwise.:deal
This is ****ing stupid, just because boxing has been "dominated" by offensively minded fighters doesn't mean there's no room for others, there's no requirement for boxers to fight in any way as long as they are able to outpunch their opponent. Boxing is not about knockouts, get that out of your head, you may enjoy it but that doesn't mean this is solely what boxing is about, go watch MMA/BKB, that sounds like just the sport for you, you can watch a bunch of cavemen with little skill bash each other's skulls in.
You're crazy if you think doing damage isn't part of pro boxing. If you prefer amateur boxing so be it. Go to your local gym and watch the kids box.
It's part of it but that's not the only aspect of it either, by the way if punches didn't do damage fighters would just walk through them.
He found a great sub concept inside the PPV concept. "Watch me because you hate me and want me to lose". But he always needed his base audience too, and for that his style and antics were precisely what was needed. Snobbing away with "hit and don't get hit", "sweet science", "best f-er", "a-side", together with diva-ish behavior, trowing money around/away wich appealed to his fanbase who are the foundation of his income. But when you look at boxing as an entertainment business, and take his income vs excitement level things go awry. Tyson made a lot because people wanted to see him. And wanted to see him WIN and in brutal fashion. That's actual entertainment.
