Canelo beats everyone from 160-168. Gvozdyk and Beterbiev beats him(I don't know if Gvozdyk can recover from that savage beating Betebriev gave him, but pre-Beterbiev), and I would slightly favor Bivol over Canelo since I think it's also a difficult style for him, but I think Canelo can beat him. I'd easily favor Canelo over the rest of the LHW though.
I'd still favour 6' 3'', 190+llbs on fight night Smith over Canelo at 168. A rehydration clause would close that gap though. Smith has very solid fundamentals, a stiff jab and a stellar counter left. I can't recall him being badly hurt before either. If Canelo signs to fight him I would be as impressed as I would be surprised.
Canelo is special bro, Smith is a beast and the top dog at 168, but I rate Smith below the big 3 EE at LHW aka Beterbiev, Bivol, and Gvozdyk. Imo Canelo can pull it off, I wouldn't be shocked if Smith won either.
He is special, I agree. But assuming no clauses, Smith would be heavier at 168 than Krusher was at 175 and unless they take a saw to his legs, he's three inches taller too. His reach is 78 compared to Kovalev's 72. And it would be prime-for-prime...
No, I said I feel a slight Garcia vs Spence vibe in regards to big fighter vs small fighter, I never felt completely confident picking Kovalev.
I picked kovakev to win even placed a bet on him but i can admit i was wrong and give him his due when he proved me wrong.
I still pick Golovkin to beat him at 160,Smith at 168 and Beterbiev at 175. I also pick Bivol to do a job as well. But he's top 3 in 3 simultaneous divisions and has just knocked out the number 3 LHW which is an amazing achievement in itself.
Can y'all imagine if Canelo goes on to beat Smith and Bivol? How high up of an ATG would he be? I left Beterbiev out because let's be realistic that aint happening lol.
