Hopkins Tarver II Move up to cruiser and Challenge Tarver, this will be a great win for Bhop if he gets it, since their first fight Tarver has become a 2 weight 2 time "world" champion and has made some big noise at cruiser weight and if he hasnt yet a win over Kayode definitively should get people talking. Besides all that the two of these brash Americans should have no problem selling the fight. If Hopkins has one more fight and its at cruiser (which most people are expecting) the Tarver is the best choice imho.
Hopkins would have to bulk up around 20lbs, at his age this would be a severe disadvantage for him, and Tarver would easily outbox him
Had Hopkins won I would have been all for it. I'm sure he could be competitive, but as the poster above said, it would be too much at this point for him to take on.
I don't want to see another Hopkins fight. Not really. He is slower now and just tries to get fights won at the press conferences and get popularity and ego and getting actual fights to his pace while landing his lead right and being defensive. I want to see fighters who are young fight exciting fights. Tarver or Toney or Jones or Hopkins? I don't know if those mean much. We saw them at their best. I want to see Dawson vs. Ward. Martinez vs. Lara. Fights like that.
