Berto is not the greatest opponent but not too bad either. I would of liked Floyd to have fought Porter or Thurman though

I would not pay 74.99 to watch Salido rematch Martinez...Would not, will not.

74.99 to watch Mayweather sparr yet another C level fighter without even considering the fans, and to watch a B level fighter in Salido?! :verysad

I have no problems giving Lemieux-Golovkin, and Cotto-Canelo some of my bread. All those 4 guys come to entertain.

I don't like the fight but understand it. Who after facing a #2 P4P fighter immediately jumps into another big fight? Just shows you how PBF is held to a higher standard than everyone else.

The #2 P4P fighter was KTFO by the #3 P4P fighter, and according to a lot of Fl0moes, the #2 P4P fighter had lost to Bradley.

So the #2 P4P fighter was only #2 by default, not by accomplishment.

Doesn't matter. #48 was the #2 P4P fighter when they fought and many thought he would beat PBF with that said PBF beats any version of him and is the better fighter period. PBF has nothing left to prove and should have retired after his last fight.

Actually he beat LaMotta then had eight non-title fights and then defended against Turpin, and lost.
All within a 5 month period.
2 months later he regained the title from Turpin.

That's just a 7-month period in the illustrious career.
Mayweather isn't worthy of the comparison really.

It'd be fine if it wasn't on PPV. Not going to pay $70 to watch him fight Berto. I'll see the replay.

    1) He should beat Berto, there is no drama, no disputing the likely outcome. There are certainly more challenging opponents and opponents who have "done more" recently to deserve a shot at Floyd.
    2) If the impossible does happen, it's not Berto beating Floyd, it's Father Time beating Floyd.

The fight has zero meaning and should be for free on CBS. I personally think it will bomb if they try to go PPV like they plan. It'll be Floyd's lowest PPV numbers since before he fought Oscar. Just my prediction, I could be wrong.

Bad fight that's made worse by PPV.

    Yes there is.

    1) That last fight of Floyd's was the most anti-climatic of his career, and possibly of all time.

    2) He doesn't deserve a soft touch due to how much he is getting paid, and where this fight puts him in terms of historic achievement (49-0)

    3) There are a BUNCH of VERY GOOD challengers out there - Berto isn't one of them.

I like Thurman ,that would have been a great fight to go out on. Berto is a decided anti climax, his bubble has already been burst.

Sure, but there were loads of good challengers out there when Ali fought Wepner, and there were loads of ranked LHWs when Calzaghe fought Jones and there are loads of more deserving challengers MOST times MOST champions fight. That's fact.

If Mayweather fights the most deserving fight in the world - Pacquiao - and then fights a soft one, I don't think he should be castigated for that.

    At all.

I think as long as a fighter is taking on his best challenger once a year ish he should be left alone for the other fight. If he fights a top 2 or 3 guy, i'd extend that privilege - unless there's a really, really clear #1 in which case fighting the #3 then a soft touch is a bit much.

But the hysteria surrounding the objections aren't sensible. It's acceptable, normal, and in keeping with his responsibilities to fight nobody very special now.

And it's not like a Bero is a journeyman (like Wepner was). This is a reasonable fight.

That's because there was no money being made back then. Come on you think if SRR was getting multi million dollar paydays he would keep that schedule up?!

Forget Robinson, it's a bad example, I agree. There are hundreds of better ones.

    Good post.

And for the record.....I won't be buying Pacs next one either.

Unless it's vs Cotto or Canelo at 155.

I don't want to see him killed by GGG, so I'm not entertaining the thought
