Hopkins' toughest fights were against fighters who had either extremely fast hands (Jones) or who were extremely athletic (Taylor). Calzaghe has both of these attributes. Hopkins is one of the craftiest fighters of his era. However, he has definitely slowed down. I think Calzaghe still has one or two really good fights in him before he retires. I think Calzaghe outworks him for a clear 9-3 decision.

Old Bernard is not getting any younger.
If he fights Calzaghe he definately looses.
Grade "A" beating ---- very possible.

hopkins deep down knows he doesn't have the tools to win, but hey he is gona have a go. Just a idiot for being racist and thinking he can actually win, taylor beat him and lets be honest taylor is no calzaghe . No wonder he wasnt to dodge calzaghe jus like last time he knows its a VERY RISKY fight and he knows the chances of losing are more then the first fight with taylor when he accepted!

sorry mate, realised that sounded a bit personal, wasn't meant to.

serious question though, how did you come to that conclusion? a guy who's never been stopped, not even by RJJ against a guy who likes feather fisted at 154 and who'd won only 25 of his 51 wins by stoppage, did you see hopkins qutting after a sustained jab-lead beating?

I saw how Winky fought Taylor. Coming forward, pressuring and throwing alot of punches. I also saw that in that fight, it was Winky that appeared to be stronger than Taylor. Then I looked at the Hops/Taylor fights, the Hops/Hoya fights and the Hops/Tarver fights. One thing that was very apparant in all those fights was that none of those guys "made HOpkins fight" there was no pressure, they all basically stood and posed in front of him. I was a little naive in ignoring the fact that Hopkins makes it hard for a fighter to pressure himi like that due to his angles and overall ring generalship. But that all said, I thought, like in the Taylor fight, Winky might be able to impose himself on Hops as well. After all, Taylor appeared bigger and stronger than Hopkins at middle, so by default....maybe Winky would be as strong or stronger than Bernard, after the way he treated Taylor.

Basically I thought Hopkins would finally show his age. I thought there was an obvious reason he never started fighting to later in the fight and it was his stamina and age. If Winky pushed forward and made him fight every second, like he did with Taylor, Hopkins wouldn't keep up and eventually be stopped on accumulation very late...perhaps the 11th.

Now, in my defense, I might not think I was a complete moron if this fight was at middle. It still makes sense to me. But it seemed Hops gained strength when he went up, while Winky looked like a fat, sluggish piece of shat at 170lbs.

Oh, and don't worry, I know it was an awful prediction. I only brought it up as a joke. I still get **** from posters about it regularly.

    good post.

winky certainly has no business fighting that far north, that's why i'd be pretty pissed if joe c took him on at 168.
