trout got dropped by an 18-year-old vanes martiroysan in the amatuers with full head gear.

canelo has faced four legit 154s and all four made it to the 12th round.

i do agree with you that canelo has a high ring iq and good techinique but that is not enough to be competitive at 154 let alone 160.

youll see what im talking about when he looks completely average against molina...who will be the fifth legit 154 that goes 12 rounds with him.

Canelo can be a good win for Floyd at 154 without being a potential top dog at 160. Frankly Canelo gets destroyed by the elite at 160. He isn't a true pressure fighter, and his power is more of the thudding variety. Guys like Golovkin would bust him up and take him out.

one question tho, tell me the last big puncher Canelo has faced?

he hasn't fought one single junior middle power puncher, let alone 160

sergio, quillin , pirog and ggg can punch hard at 160 and canelo is yet to taste that power and you think he just gonna run thru the division. please

Qullin, GGG, Murray, Sergio, and even a few others at 160 would beat Canelo.

****, I would even love to see Curtis Stevens fight him at 160. I think it would be quite interesting while it lasts.

He may or may not have more stamina, but one thing for certain he won't have is the significant size advantage he has at 154 lbs. Plus, when you say he gets hit less, one, Canelo doesn't combine defense and offense well, that has been proven against the best opposition he's faced. He was able to dodge Trout's somewhat predictable straight punches for some stretches, but then again, he rarely was able to get his own offense going during that time. He got tuned up by Gomez, but fortunately had a huge size advantage and Gomez isn't a puncher even at his natural weight of Welterweight. Floyd had no trouble hitting him at all either. At 160 he'll be facing fighters that are the same size or bigger, and lengthier than Canelo to boot. Two, Canelo hasn't faced that kind of punching power ever. It doesn't matter that Martinez and GGG are unlikely to outbox him to the extent of Floyd when they are fairly likely to outright stop Canelo.

Alvarez does have room to grow as you say, he is very young still. However, I haven't seen him improve that much on the flaws in his game so far. He needs to learn how to adapt where he can lead off with his own offense when needed and also how to better couple his defense with his offense against higher level fighters. As things stand right now, I think all those fighters beat Canelo.

I don't think so. At this stage of his career, at MW he is similar to the Geales and Barkers. He may develop further as he is quite young.

A match with GGG would cut his career short. After the beating he'd receive, he'd never be the same again.
