I think Cotto also took a lot out of Margarito when they fought...

whoa whoa man, lets not forget that mosley was fighting a far more skilled pug in cotto, who was be in the same technical league with him. Mosley will clearly outbox marg, and im not sure marg has the power to hurt mosley.

C'mon, if santos can be marg., mosley surely can.

Not sure to be quiet honest. We'll all just have to wait and see.

I completly agree, Cotto was battered and it will affect him for sure, but so was Margo, I have never seen him so puffed up after the fight.

I disagree completely. I thought Margarito could have fought again later that evening after the Cotto fight. Cotto did hit him with some bombs, but Margo was so pumped up and took them so well, I don't think there will have been any after-effects whatsoever for him, except giving him a whole lot more confidence. I never thought I'd say this, but I think Mosley is going to be stopped in brutal fashion.

The only thing that seems to hurt Margarito is inactivity.

I'm curious to see how Cotto responds. Why do I get the feeling that he might go Brittney Spears on us? The guy's been a dad since he was a teenager right? He seems to be on and off again with the mother. He's got issues with his uncle who's his trainer. I hear that he just got back to training recently and prior to that had been hanging out with his friends and drinking after suffering a brutal first loss. It sounds to me like this young man has never had a chance to be a kid. And now he's got lots of money...:drink:party

Eh, Margo was never really hurt in that fight. He'll be just fine IMO.

I disagree.. It's Cotto that peep's should be worried about, he took heavy damage and has in just about every big fight he has ever been in. (Except against Margarito)

Brilliant post, this is exactly what i have been emphasising. Also if they rematch i believe Cotto would U.D Margo (i intially Called Margo to beat Cotto). Cotto fought the wrong fight.

Many of Cotto's punches were arm punches with not a whole lot put into them.... I really doubt Margarito sustained much permanent damage.. BUT if margo keeps fighting for years and using his head as his primary form of defense, than YES.. he could have permanent damage done

Its the ones with the good chins who get permanently hurt ..... IE ALI

I said this immediatley after the fight.

I wondered what long term damage Margo may have taken by walking through all that ( I cited Ali-Frazier 1 as my reference ) I don't think it will show up yet but I do fear for him in later life.

its always the guys we idolise for being so damned tough that come back to haunt us later.

Thats what I was thinking too. Especially when he was ringside at a fight the next week and he still had black eyes.
I guess we wont know until Mosley tags him with an overhand right, he has a lot of power in both hands so we'll see then if Margarito can still take it. I also wonder if Mosley will get to Margos body and find out how he handles those. If he can still absorb punishment like a sponge Sugar could be in trouble although he's got a strong chin too.
    I cant wait.
Mosley wins by UD and scores a couple knockdowns.:nut

you would think after a while it would but usually you start to see the effect of those punches during the fight. he showed non. during castillo v corrales you could see them having the effect on castillo. never saw that from margarito he didn't flinch even when his head was snapped back.
