That 2.4 million is also a lot more than Oscar EVER did with any other opponent, so there's just another reason economy excuses don't work. No one can sell a fight like Floyd. If he and Pac fought, Floyd would be the main driving force in the promotion because Pacquiao seems so much more boring outside the ring, and is painful to listen to when he speaks English. Pac depends on Freddie a lot to handle all the talking about fights (maybe he should pay him some promotional fees as well). It's just the way it is, and it has an effect on promoting any possible fight between them.

Arum ****ing knows all this, but he never has wanted to deal with Floyd. He short-changed Floyd even when he fought for him. It just a damned fact, whether someone is a Floyd hater or not.

I've said this before, I really think Mayweather-Mosley will be Floyd's next fight after beating Marquez. I just think negotiations will fall through with whoever comes out of Pac-Cotto fight. Some are saying there is a rematch clause in the case of a Cotto victory, highly likely IMO, and you know Arum isn't gonna wanna hear a thing if Pac wins- Pac might even go retire and become prez if Floyd "prices himself out".

If I'm Mayweather I'm rooting hard for Cotto - it gets rid of Pacquiao and all the inherent risk he brings to Floyd's undefeated record, and it allows Floyd to take on Cotto, whom I think Floyd decisions with relative ease...

I have the same feeling. I can't trust that Arum will ever make a deal with Floyd. Shane should pay off Clottey, and he and Floyd should just fight on the December date that is set for Mosley/Clottey. If Pac wants any of the winner in 2010, then he can have it. I want be surprised if he retires after Cotto, runs for office, loses again, and then comes back to boxing later on.

IF Cotto beats Pac in convincing fashion there will be no rematch, no matter what the contract says, fans will just not be interested... and then he would have to face Mayweather vs. JMM winner, no matter who is it... fans don't usually like to see loser from (A) vs winner from (B).... it should go winner vs winner... (unless somebody retires out of being scared to fight a real contender)... or makes the fight impossible with ridiculous demands....

Pacquiao is the easier opponent for Floyd. Cotto would weigh 10-12 pounds more in the ring than Floyd, and Pacquiao's style is made for Floyd. He'd beat either, but Cotto would be a tougher fight.

    Dream situation.

    Cotto beats Pac
    Mayweather beats Marquez
    Pac fights Marquez (wins)
    Cotto destroys Mayweather
    Mayweather fights Mosley
Cotto - Pac rematch - Pac wins
    Cotto - Pac trilogy.
Thats how you get the best fights

Most people thought Pac-ODLH was a circus, a terrible mismatch between a superfeatherweight and a jr middleweight hence a poor PPV buys of a little over 1.2 million. Floyd-JMM is being seen by most (not me) as a mismatch, it will not sell much as Pac-Cotto.

It's a dream situation indeed coz Pac is hell bent on next year to run for congress in the May elections.
