tonight he was somewhat drained but in every fight he never lets his hands go. he sits and wait for the perfect punch. dude have 0 urgency, even when hes down by 8 pts, he cruise and try to outbox his opponent like hes the one up on the cards. I never seen a fighter like him before that just refuse to swing his fist. something in his mind just wont allow him to attack and let off. he have a mental block that he cant get past. its a shame because when he let his hands go its a thing of beauty
He's never been the same since Floyd Sr. stopped training him. Dawson should reunite with Floyd Sr and salvage whatever career he has left.
^^^^^ psychically hell be fine at 175 but mentally hes always been off even win he was undefeated so i don't know
It's not an uncommon thing to see. Some fighters are just too conservative with their punches, looking for the perfect moment to unload, too worried about the openings they leave when they throw, just plain lazy, or for whatever reason....We'll always see fighters like this, and it is frustrating. Mike Weaver, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, Dominick Guinn, Rocky ****ing Juarez Juarez had a couple of the most beautiful left hook knockouts you'll see....and many fights where you just wanted to yell at him through the screen "let your hands go!!"
Sort of has Mike Weaver syndrome in that he has amazing physical gifts but he gets too discouraged when he gets hit. He has alien type gifts but he's just too passive.
Yeah I'm glad to see I'm repeating other people's good ideas. Its odd and unrelated but it seems like every guy Ronnie Shields trains has that block about throwing punches.
Thank god no one compared his mental stability to Victor Ortiz's. Although, both did quit. Takes me to one of the threads a fellow esb member made last week; would you want to be KO'd or outboxed over 12 rounds. Guess his trainer's weren't giving him any tips... all he said was the gameplan's out of the window you gotta knock him out... but you can't really force a knockout... unless your Mike Tyson.
dawson gonna go home, smoke a fat blunt and think o well, just made x amount losing to a p4p champ. then he will go on and win his next fight. boxing is about levels, and wards the only a+ fighter in his division. glad he got the ko
i thought the Pascal loss it might have fixed him up, in the Hopkins fight he seemed a bit better mentally but tonight he was terrible, hes a weird guy
