....especially if the fight is around 150 LBS.

DLH has a size advantage, and he is really good with that LEFT HAND of his.

Every time I have seen Cotto really hurt it has been with a LEFT HAND (Notably Chop Chop Corley)....

DLH is a bad style matchup for Cotto. Plain & simple!

Let's see how he looks against Marg. I think Marg and Hoya both have a moving forward unrelenting style. Cotto will have to fight off the backfoot like he did with Mosley. Hoya will throw many more punches than Marg and have better defence than Mosley. It will be a very good fight for sure. These next two fights will reveal Cotto in every way. Cotto is still my favorite relevant fighter and he's fighting my older favorite. Cotto might come out on top, who knows, but I still cannot say I've seen Cotto pushed to the absolute limit.

this fight actually reminds me of chavez vs odl years ago...i think this fight has to be made as more of a torch passing than anything...i love watching hoya, but I have a feeling cotto is going to (providing he can beat the tornado) beat de la hoya

Oscar was way too hittable against Forbes. If he's like that against Cotto, he gets destroyed.
The example of Corley isn't "notable" at all since Corley's a southpaw.
BTW, it's been a while since DLH has been very effective or powerful with his left hand, unless you want to bring up Mayorga who isn't to be compared with Cotto.

De la Hoya has a "moving forward unrelenting style"??? He "will throw many more punches than Marg"???
With all due respect, i feel you've pretty much eliminated your credibility in this discussion with those comments.

A lot of people have been talking about Oscar's left hand being a factor. The reality is his last opponents have been 1) a defensive master, probably one of the best of all time, and 2) Forbes, an amazing defensive fighter who was only picked to practice for Mayweather. Outside of these two we can see Mayorga who was much bigger than either of these two and kd in the first round and ko'd by sixth (if I remember correctly). Just saying we have to look at the defensive side of the opponents if we want to view someone's power accurately. Cotto also took many punches from Mosley, more punches than DLH took from a very fast fighter with much better defence in Forbes.

Well, I'm talking about Hoya at his best, not at his worst. DLH does come forward at all times unless its a specific need not to, Trinidad, Mosley2, Vargas. For the most part he is a moving forward fighter. He can fight brilliantly off the backfoot but prefers not to. When Margo gets going he does have an equal amount of punches he's throwing, the problem is he can take a long time to get to that point (as in Williams). His performance over Goldie was not enough to get a credible view of him, and Cintron, well, that depends on what we think of Cintron.

If DLH throws 30 jabs per rd and stays on his toes, Cotto will find it very difficult to win.

OK, Cotto takes some punches. But are you actually insinuating Forbes is a more dangerous fighter than Mosley? Why, because he has a better defence? Defence doesn't land punches.
And although Cotto took some punches from Mosley, he also took them very well. He hasn't been k'd at 147 in 5 fights. And even if Oscar CAN hurt Cotto with a left hook, Cotto knows how to deal with getting hurt.
I understand what you're getting at, but i think you're overestimating Oscar's hook and you, like others, are still thinking too much about the vulnerabilities Cotto showed at 140.

A year ago I would have agreed, but I'm not sure about that now. Lets see how Cotto do against Margo.

Why does everybody bring up Corley, Torres, or whoever at 140? That was 140.. At 147, we're talkin' a different story.. I think Cotto could beat DLH, but he just wouldn't walk through him.. DLH definitely will be pushing, but Cotto will counter-punch and work on the inside some on DLH, really tiring him out and hitting on accurate body shots.. Cotto will be backing up, but he won't be riding a bicycle like some do :D.. I'd take Cotto by UD..
