I think he'd be a much more difficult fight for Canelo than Jacobs. The guy is so determined, he seemed to get better in the championship rounds too. Jacobs has some stylistic advantages over Canelo, and the counter punching of Jacobs could certainly make it more of a chess match for Canelo than he's used to. I mean it's a much more predictable fight for me than Derevyanchenko would be. With Jacobs you know Canelo would be the aggressor and he would be trying to walk down Jacobs. With Derevyanchenko though he has the kind of style that would take the fight to Canelo, force Canelo to back up with that jab and force Canelo to be the counter puncher.
Id certainly like to see that fight. I do like Chenko but i really dont think id favour him over Canelo. His style may put Canelo in to counterpunching mode but Canelo is an elite counter puncher. But still, there are about a thousand worse fights that could be made than that one.
It would be a beautiful fight to watch, far more entertaining than Jacobs Canelo would be imho. Jacobs is just an awkward fighter. Very talented, but Jacobs is way more of a "runner" than Canelo was in GGG 1. He just doesn't engage at all.
lol lets not get carried away. Like I said Derevyanchenko would be a very tough fight for Canelo. Could he knock Canelo out? I doubt it, but he could outwork Canelo. Then again Canelo could time him coming in and knock him the hell out. Still I think he could pressure Canelo and stay in his face even moreso than GGG did in the first fight.
Fantastic styles fight. Dervy the aggressor, Canelo the hard counter puncher. I think Canelo beats him to be honest but I'd pay to watch it.
Canelo? Well, maybe only if Hearn signs Derevyanchenko... The worst thing now for Serg would be to go almost inactive again (fighting god knows who in fights which are not even televised)...
Where is Derevyanchenko gonna go now? Do you think a Jacobs rematch is warranted? If GGG don't want that Canelo work for May, I'd be happy with Canelo vs Derevyanchenko and Andrade vs Jacobs in May then maybe the winners fight in Sept.
That's a good question. As I said earlier his last (before this) fight against Dashon (not to be confused with Tureano) Johnson was not even televised... Let's be realistic — none of the top MW boxers will want to fight him now... And the best Derevyanchenko can expect is that his (lousy) promoter will get him busy maybe on PBC cards against decent opponents. Maybe even as a co-main event sometimes. Or if Eddie magically signs him — that would be almost like a dream come true for Serg. Derevyanchenko would crash, for example, some British level fighters for a not so bad paycheck on DAZN.
