Floyd has millions of dollars, I don't think he gives a crap about what our broke ass think. I think as boxing fans we give ourselve to much credit on what individual boxer believe we want. Boxing promoters should care.

Mayweather, like Pacquiao and most high profile fighters have become big, mainly because they were strongly helped and at a certain point, meant to become that way.

The creation never has more power than the creator...

 

I'm only giving the theory weight because HBO has been on a recent string of dictating which fights they are willing to pay for and being very adamant about it. HBO doesn't want to keep paying fighters big paychecks if they don't fight opponents that generate a comparable level of revenue.
As a general rule I see some top fighters lowering their price-tags in the near future or getting frozen out (like Berto and Williams).
