The pressure is on for a mega fight. Either Pac as 1 or Martinez as the backup plan but to me I think his

feels like he's 1 fight away. You hear his dad & uncle talk non stop about Floyd being too old to be inactive. Even before the Ortiz fight they said that it would be crazy for Floyd to fight Pac now. You can tell that Floyd is even starting to feel the same way about

    .

Then the Ortiz fight came and I think the way it ended screwed up team Mayweather's plan. I think they feel that right now he could beat a Pac or Martinez but I think all of them would say that they would feel 100% that he could beat them with either more rounds or another fight. I dont think they felt he got in enough rounds with Ortiz. If they had to do it over, they wish there was no headbutt and the fight wouldve went the extra 2-6 rounds that Floyd wouldve probably had stopped him in anyways.

As good as he was, you could tell there was still some rust. I think they fear him getting caught early against those 2

or losing a fight just because it took him like 6-8 rounds to knock off the rust & get back in full fight mode to beat those guys. Like Floyd came on strong late to win the last 4 rounds but lost the fight because his timing was so off before then.

I think if they had it there way, he would have 1 more fight in May and then fight those guys along with Khan. Thats why I wouldnt be shocked to see a Pac or Martinez fight but I also wouldnt be shocked to see a Ortiz rematch or something like that and then him fighting a Pac or Martinez at the end of the year with the leftover

    coming next year with Khan.

I think there in a tough spot because they want the fight now and most of all they know the public wants the fight now, they would feel that Floyd will win but know for a fact that Floyd will win if he had 1 more fight before then to have no ring rust at all.

Again, even if the Ortiz fight had went 6-8 rounds I think they would feel like he was pretty solid to fight them now but it didnt happen and its like they are stuck in the middle, feeling like yes its now or maybe 1 more fight. I think they would fight Khan easily in May but IDK if thats viable right now

  2. Rust? You're stupid as hell. He looked sharper than Ortiz. Eat ****.

Ortiz wasn't the guy for Floyd to give him a challenge.

After Marquez(an exhibition fight BTW), Floyd showed no signs of rust to me and is looking as sharp as ever. I do think he could beat Martinez and stop Pacquiao(bad style matchup for Pacquiao) but he needs to either a) be more active or b) have that kind of "superbowl" fight per year he's been referring to. His last 3 fights weren't megafights and the last big fight he had was against DLH.

Khan would put up a better fight against Floyd than Pacquiao call me crazy but I feel that way due to his jab and he's more controlled in the ring than Pacquiao though he does imitate him at times. He needs to be the boxer-type and not the slugger as he has a good size advantage over most 140 lb'ers and I think would make a solid WW.

Good post, they would have wanted more rounds I'm sure, but on the plus side, no broken hands so no year off

just because he was shaprer than Ortiz or shape period, doesnt mean there was no rust. Its not about beating Ortiz or any guy like that. Its about weather he's at the top notch level they want him to be at to fight a Pac or Sergio. Floyd is always going to look good because he's that skilled but there is a difference between looking like youre on the level to beat the best or beating the best of the best.

Again, I think they feel that he would beat them now but they would feel a ton more comfortable if he got more rounds in or had 1 more good training camp & fight 1st. They just dont want him to lose because he was 1 fight too early or was a few rounds too shy

I did too no doubt but the fight got stopped at the point he usually really gets going and if he just had a few more extra rounds then I think his team wouldve felt alot better before a mega fight against Sergio or Pac where they will already have the Southpaw advantage which may take a few rounds to adjust to on its own anyways

Agreed. On May 5th 2012, He would've only fought 4 rounds in 2 years. We don't even know if he will start to fade in the end now. He's three years older than the guy that fought Marquez in 2009. He may still be fresh, but I do believe that his team wanted him to get in some rounds to be sure. Beating sparring partners is different from an actual boxing match with top notch guys.

I do feel that they are worried a little about rust and his age, because I have the same worries myself actually. 35 years is just damn.
For a guy that has been fighting since he was a toddler, that's old
