IMO even pre-Margarito Cotto gets decisioned by Yuri Foreman. If I'm wrong, I'll eat my crow, but the way I see it Cotto will have a hard time getting off, will have low accuracy, and Foreman will be able to take Cotto's shots when he lands anyways. Also, Foreman will have equal or better stamina than Cotto. Also, Foreman will make Cotto fight his fight using his reach, movement, and size. He'll make Cotto reach in too much and catch him off balance.

If Foreman has a bad chin, I can see it going Cotto's way. Otherwise I don't see it.

Just my thoughts! Foreman by clear cut decision.

My 'official' pick is Cotto by UD.... and of course, i am rooting for Cotto every step of the way. I hope he pulls this out in fashion.

However, deep deep down, i think this is a bad matchup based on weightclass, size, and opponent, and that in my estimation cotto has slipped. I think stamina and size will play a role here as well.

How i hope im right and wrong at the same time, right with my 'pick', and wrong about my gut feeling.....

Im picking yuri to beat cotto as well. Yuri is 5"11, hes a good boxer with speed! This is cottos first fight at 154.. The only thing cotto has going for him is emmanuel steward as his new trainer. Everything else points to a yuri UD!

Yuri is no bum, but I think Cotto will score a late Tko that leads from a blow that Foreman doesn't see coming.

I don't argue the fact that Yuri has the boxing ability to keep it close, but lets not forget that Cotto is a great boxer as well.

Im looking forward to this one, I'll be rooting for Cotto, but wouldn't be upset if it goes the other way.

I sense a robbery...Foreman will deserve a win, but Cotto will get the nod.

I've got 40$ on Foreman outright at +187

60$ on Foreman by decision at +300

    So I hope I'm right.

Staying away from this fight. To many "could go wrong" scenarios for both guys.

    I don't doubt this either.

For some reason I think this fight is going to end controversially.

  10. This fight is pretty simple for me: If Cotto can't close the distance and break Foreman down to the body to slow him down then he will lose. Now, Cotto was not at all able to do this against Manny Pacquiao so I wonder if he can do it against a guy who is naturally bigger, taller, moves just as much, and keeps distance better than Manny? BUT, Yuri is not as fast as Manny nor does he have the offensive onslaught that Manny has--which is a big key to what I say below.

A couple of things that I noticed about Yuri that Cotto may be able to capitalize on: Yuri bounces up and down quite a bit, and sometimes does it within his opponent's punching range. I think that Miguel should use feints during the times when Yuri is bouncing up and down which will cause Yuri to react and possibly stop in his tracks. The goal in that is not to set up an overhand right or lead left hook but rather to get into punching range so that Miguel can attack the body. Another thing that could benefit Miguel is if Yuri tries to pot shot him like he was doing Santos. Yuri left himself open quite a bit when he was doing this and I don't think throwing one punch at a time is the key to beating Miguel Cotto. Also, if that happens, Yuri will be there for Miguel to hit as Yuri will likely fall into Miguel as he's doing that.

So, for me, this fight comes down to distance. If Cotto is able to eliminate distance, I think he can break Yuri down. If Yuri is able to keep his distance then I think he can box his way to a decision.

It does seem to have all the right ingredients. I hope not though. That's the last thing we need. Aside from a new belt from the WBA or WBC.

I agree with most of what you posted except the boldened part. Yuri is
lightning fast even as the bigger man than pac.

At least I see some analysis on this thread and not hatred. I hope Cotto can win, but I am not so sure. We have to see how much Cotto is left
