Hate to say I told ya so :p

Cotto was always a different class. The only analysis you needed to know for this fight.

Hey, I thought so too. Glad I was wrong, really. It's good to see Cotto get a little confidence back.

Sux I lost a 2 month avatar bet on it though.

I do disagree with you there. There were enough intangibes that a Foreman pick was reasonable IMO.

    New weight division
    Serious personal issues
Coming back from a second serious beating

Cotto was better than I thought. Even against Alfonso Gomez, Cotto was missing more jabs than against Yuri Foreman. That was a shocker. Also, Foreman couldn't handle his power, 2nd shocker.

Weight was not really a big issue considering Foreman is not a puncher to begin with, 8ko's. Weight is also used too many times as an excuse to ignore all other intangibles.

The "damaged goods" was always blown out of proportion. Cotto showed nothing to me in the Clottey or Pac fight that he was shot or that past it, he was simply in there with top fighters, 1 was the best.

Stylistically, it favoured Cotto. In terms of difference in class, it clearly favoured Cotto. Cotto with Steward also was a confidence boost. I expected a 5'7" Cotto to outjab a faster 5'11" Foreman, difference in class man.

Cotto knocked down Clottey with his jab, Ive always said that Cotto possibly has the best jab right now, better than PBF's. Not as versatile as PBF but its a damn good jab.

I thought Foreman wasnt ready for the power, but he was trading later in the fight and held his own.

Again, the guys who backed up Cotto and took his confidence away were Mosley, Margo & Pac...all 3 have 1 thing in common, something Foreman absolutely does not have.

I agree that power was not an issue.

But fighters moving up can lose out in terms of mobility and stamina. Cotto is a seek and destroy type fighter against Foreman's type, but if his mobility and stamina were questionable, this could lose him rounds.

He was neither "shot" nor "past it" but against Jennings he struggled to get off in a way i've never seen before. Against Clottey he looked faster again (although Clottey's legs are full of led) but he also seemed to gas at one point. Actually, Cotto did struggle to get off on occasion against Foreman, but Foreman wasn't bringing anything back.

I agree with all of that though.

    Congrats to Miguel.

My prediction was wrong, but am happy that he won.

I hope he gets more wins in the coming years.

Yeah, a step down for Cotto and Foreman was wearing a leg brace since
Santos.I suspect it had gotten worse up to this pt injuries like that usually don't go away and can cause dis-comfort etc.I think it was ok against Santos but was bothering him for this fight and any slippery surface would have aggrivated it even further and it did.He was hobbling around and was an easy prey for MIGUEL ANGEL COTTO.
