I think Harrera won the fight by imposing a pretty boring style; frustrating Garcia all fight and winning rounds using the jab. I don't think it's time to start labelling Garcia as "exposed" etc, but he definitely showed an inability to deal with an awkward fighter and, whereas before I thought a fight between him and Floyd at 140 would have been a decent match up, I'm not so sure anymore.... Definitely wasn't pretty to watch and I absolutely disagree with the bull**** open scoring the WBO impose. It was a close fight but I think it's pretty hard to justify scoring the fight to Garcia based on individual round scoring; Harrera was too effective with the jab and won too many rounds making use of it.
Well Nic, first thing to note is you're not too bright. You've stated that anybody who thinks Danny lost DKSAB. That would include Pauli Malinaggi who has been in the ring and knows something about the sport, and it also includes Al Bernstein, probably the most knowledgeable media commentator following the sport. The fight was close. I scored it 116 - 112 for Harrera, but I wouldn't call the fight a robbery. There were five or six rounds that could have gone ether way. If you give all of those rounds to Danny, you could give him a 7-5 victory. (eight - four is just too much of a stretch). Incidentally, I believe you scored the 12th for Danny, one of Harrera's clear rounds. This would suggest that it's YOU who DKSAB and base your take solely on fandom. Danny's a likeable guy, but he probably lost last night. Still, not a robbery.
I think Garcia won a very very close fight. Had it 115-113. I think expectations played a big role in how people viewed this fight. Danny comming of a sensational win againts Lucas fighting in PR againts an opponent who isn't a big name. People were expecting nothing less than a KO and insteed they got a guy in Herrera who was able to make it a very rough fight. Herrera was very active with his jab but overall i think the power punches which favored Garcia was the difference. He did some good work to the body as well even though he landed on Herreras balls a few times. Very ugly win for Danny. Needs to go back to the gym and figure some things out but again i had it 115-113 Garcia.
This guy must really know a thing or two about boxing. :think I can't wait to read his breakdown of the fight. Ok here we go, pretty simple question from TJ Max, awaiting nicamarvin's analysis. :huhatsch:-( Great write up. Wait for others to reply and then add "THIS".
