Polish press is rumoring that Golota is gonna hang 'em up. I wrote Scoop Malinowski for any insight into this & he said: "Not sure but Andrew may have used up his last surge of Polish Power in that Mollo fight. Not sure if he really wants to fight Peter who looked excellent vs. Maskaev. I think he would have had a much better shot vs. Maskaev. This is not based on any conversation as I never ask Andrew about his next move or whatever, just a gut feeling of logic." Its ripping me apart the thought of this being true. He could of beat Maskaev, but Peter shattered that plan. And the other Champ-bum Chagaev is fighting a rematch with that russian giant bum, Valuev. Its over...
Show a little compassion in my time of sorrow. You can't imagine how this hurts, after the 12 year roller coaster ride we've been on.
This is probably for the best. Golota might eventually get killed in the ring if he continues. Better he leaves on a winning note.
On the bright side he got some wins after the destructive beating he took from Brewster. He got back in the ring after an absolute whipping, which is very admirable.
I watched the Golota/Mollo fight the other night. If he's gonna retire at least he went out with a solid win. Mollo's a limited fighter but it was still an entertaining scrap and Golota got the job done, winning the last 6 rounds en route to the victory and doing it with a closed eye no less. At 40 years old, Golota would probably be better served to retire. He only fights in short bursts now and he's been in a lot of tough fights. Mollo was falling all over the place cuz he was exhausted and hurt so Golota wasn't really in any danger. Someone like Peter would keep the pressure on all night and make things very difficult for Andrew. If this is the end I'm just happy that Golota goes out on a winning streak.
Hear that JETSKI? joecool has spoken! And I will take the word of joecool over that of Andrew himself! :hh
I heard that he was interviewed by a morning-show in Poland, and that he basically said hes only got one more fight left. His conditioning is not coming back, and he's having troubles.
Its a shame I would have liked to see him with one more shot. I feel bad for his fans as I am going through BHOP retiring too.
