I think Andrew thought that he would win very impressively against Mollo, either knock him out or dominate him every round. Even though he won comfortably, he ate some punches and Mollo gave him some fits.

Should we start the Golota Tribute thread or do we wait it out?

I think we should wait on some official news.

The press does hear a rumor now and then and they jump the gun sometimes. Time will tell.

If Golota does call it quits, then it was a hell of a ride. Regardless of what 6 dumb-ass crooked judges saw in two championship fights, Golota was the unofficial :bbbWBA and IBF HeavyWeight Champ of the world. :bbb Something he and his fans most definently deserved.

  4. Andrew is 40 years old, and with the wear and tear on his body it may be time to say see ya, his hands are slower, and dosen't seem to have the power he once had, i would like to see him get out and not take a beating from Peter:dead
And why is Valuev a Russian bum:patsch ????????what do you have against him, he's big and ugly, but has lost only once in almost 50 fight's not bad if you ask me..

If it's true, look at it this way: at least you got to see him go out with a lot of heart in difficult fight that he won.

Which reminds me of an article I once read here that depicts that exact sentiment!

    ;)

By Geoffrey Ciani, Photos by David Martin Warr - DKP: When Andrew Golota squared off against Mike Tyson back in October 2000, few fans will probably forget the disturbing image of Golota spitting out his mouth piece as he shoved trainer Al Certo out of his way in order to make an early exit from the ring. Fewer, still, are likely to forget the equally disturbing image of Golota being doused with debris from the angry crowd. Even his biggest detractors must have pitied the man as he made his disgraceful departure from the ring and the sport.

Quitting against Tyson was the final straw for the man who had already blown four previous opportunities on the big stage. When Golota twice battered former undisputed champion Riddick “Big Daddy” Bowe, he exhibited championship-caliber skills, but unfortunately, despite having the physical tools, he never possessed the mental make-up to compete at the top level. This was evidenced by his two disqualification losses against Bowe. He was clearly winning both fights, but his inability to resist hitting Bowe below the beltline cost him two guaranteed victories.

Lets hold off on the farewells till we hear some official news. If Golota called it quits, all the media would be writting about it by now. But they arent. Except one article from which who knows the news came from. We need to hear it from Golota himself.

I gotta tell you something guys. That would be a perfect way to end his journey because he proved in that "last" one that he's not a cowar or quiter like many people have labeled him after Grant and Tyson fights. So maybe it should be the end of the great white hope.......man it's just so sad..

Calm down Jetski! Have faith....Andrew hasn't come this far to just call it quits. He might have had a bad day or is frustrated that he has no fights lined up. He wants to win a major title and I'm staying positive that he will get his shot soon.

Your right. Until we hear something offical, the best thing is to try & stay positive. Hopefully a fire (or at least a flame) still burns within him to keep reaching for that dream.

    (((((((((((((((((GO GOLOTA))))))))))))))))))))))

    Keep swinging, big guy!:bbb

If Golota decides to call it quits, he went out on a high note. Winning a fierce battle and having to show a massive amount of heart to do so. One of the most talented super heavyweights of the last 15 years.

If someone has read an interview that said Golota stated he will fight one more fight, let's take him at his word.

I hope that fight is against a good opponent, if not Peter.

He was quoting Scoop "I'm Polish" Manipolski, it wasn't necessarily his opinion.

Going out on a winning note is never a bad thing, I do think there's a chance he could beat & even KO Peter but there's always the chance he'd be Brewsterfied..........................
