I think HBO has a very good plan

    They want to set up Calzaghe-Pavlik for a mega PPV fight next summer. There is a reason why Lockett, Calzaghe's buddy, was chosen to fight Kelly: I'm sure Joe will be at the fight and scout, maybe even show up at the post fight press conference.
    Calzaghe will secure himself money wise by taking the biggest money fight out there- Roy Jones, a fight he can not only win, but also look impressive. Him talking about one more fight is nonsense, he will take on Pavlik for the right money, you can say a lot of things about Joe but he is not a coward and wants to be rememberd as a legend. Even if he loses a close fight to the younger man at 37 years old, his legacy will not take a huge hit.

    p.s
    If Miranda beats Abraham, Kelly has no where else to go, so the fight can even happen sooner.

    If Calzaghe beats RJJ and thinks he's got Pavlik's number I think this fight will happen.

    Joe didn't look impressive against the relatively light hitting Hopkins in his "win". What makes you think he is going to look more impressive fighting RJJ, who has faster PUNCHING handspeed and more power?

    Because Roy throws even less punches than hopkins, has even worse stamina, his chin is china in comparison and he hasn't won a meaningful fight for years and years. That's why

    Edit: Oh and I forgot his defence is nowhere near as good

    I beleive this is what HBO is doing also. If Calzaghe beats Jones I would not be surprised to see a Pavlik/Calzaghe. I hope this happens. It would essentially be a 3 division championship fight (Middle, Super Middle, and Light Heavyweight)

    and his defence is much worse, and he doesn't hold like Nard, and he is on the ropes a lot, a very bad formula against Calzaghe.

    p.s
    Bernard also hits harder these days- he dropped Tarver, something Roy couldn't do in three fights, he isn't explosive anymore.

    hopefully,this would be heaven for joe,come foward attacking fighter just looking to be countered,joe tko 7 kelly.

    true,but i couldnt help but think roy was letting tito have that success,i think roy could have ko'd tito at any point if he felt like it.

    Since when did Roy throw less punches than B-Hop. I thought B-Hop made Joe C. look follish and he threw probably less than 300 punches. RJJ threw more than 500 in his fight against Tito, so where do you get that RJJ throws less.

    He was weaked from the weight loss, but agian he was knocked out my strong punching LHWs not a blown up SMW.
