I think Hearns/Duran/Leonard defeat FMJ with ease

Hear me out. We typically rate fighters with a letter grade. For example one fighter might be C+ grade, another fighter A- grade and so on. In very rare circumstances a fighter might be graded as an A+. Examples would include James Toney, Oleksandr Usyk, Erik Morales, Chavez Sr. Etc.

But some guys just completely break the scale. They're so good, they just shatter letter grades. That would be Hearns/Duran/Leonard. And they proved it by fighting the best.

Now, honestly consider who are Mayweathers best opponents? Has he beaten anybody higher than B+ grade in his career? DLH, Marquez, Pac and Mosley were all faded to the point when they fought Mayweather that they were no longer even A- level fighters and/or too small.

His top opposition in their prime were 3 B+ grade guys. Hatton, Corrales and Castillo. I wont disparage any of the 3. All very solid top guys. But none were super elite. All 3 have glaring deficiencies that should easily be exposed by an ATG in their prime. They just offer so little in comparison to Leonard/Hearns/Duran.

I remember watching on ESPN somebody said that Hearns and Leonard would KO Mayweather. The other guy said absolutely not and pointed to Floyd's defense. The man had the best comeback to Floyd's defense. It was, ok well when did he fight Ray Leonard?

    What about even A-

That would be a start. I would rate Paul Williams A-

I think all of the fab 4 are severely bad match ups for PBF or MMW. The size of Hagler with him being on par with Floyd and the extra power would make a very difficult night for May. Hearns had a jab like velvet, see the Mosley fight with the right hand in the second round. You think he'd be conscious if that was Hearns? I don't. Duran would fight like Maidiana and Floyd would have a really hard time deal with that type of offense, right hooks to ribs inside his shell and holding him down by the shoulders, he'd follow the Maidana game plan and finish it in the first 6. Leonard would have to box at range and wield his size and speed advantage to win rounds like the Judah fight, but with more high power shots

I didnt include Hagler because FMJ would never fight at 160.

I'd agree Mayweather is good really good! He is a product of his era fighting who was there for him can't blame him for that. But, you put Mayweather in the 80's man would things be different you can't lay on the ropes with a guy like Duran he would eat you alive. Hearns would box Mayweather head off from the outside and if he caught ya it was night, night. Leonard would just straight outclass Mayweather in every way Power, Speed and Footwork. I believe even a prime De La Hoya or Prime Mosley would beat Mayweather!

But not Castillo, Corrales, Hatton, Oscar or Mosley? What did Williams ever do that they didn’t? Even the aging versions of Oscar and Mosley that Floyd beat?

Williams had an iron chin at 147. And tremendous workrate. Oscar and DLH were A+ fighters in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Castillo was chinny. DLH and Mosley would rip him in half at 135.

The Fab Four are S class, or beyond that. Legendary.

That's my inner nerd coming out.

Mosley dominated and stopped the Margarito that took Williams the distance. Old Mosley. Abut the same time that Williams lost to some fellow named Quintana.

Imo he lost the first fight to Martinez as well, although it was close. I'd agree that Mosley and Oscar weren't A+ fighters by the time they fought Floyd, but Williams never waw. As I said just recently in another thread, I'd liked to see DLH-Williams, but let's not pretend like Williams was better than several of the guys Floyd actually did fight and beat.

That is the problem. He avoided the main fighter he had for years, and fought B fighters and handpicked them.
