This is a fair point, but if a fighter is still capable of performing as well as he ever has, I don't think it's fair to say he's "ruined", even if he's still shaken up mentally. I think the most you could say was that Trinidad fell out of love with the sport once he was beaten.

Honestly, I hope he goes in the ring and knocks Espino's head off as soon as possible. There's only so much you can get out of "going a few rounds", and I think anything less than an absolutely brutal and dominating KO of Espino would probably further tarnish Pavlik's reputation. I hope this doesn't become another "let him off the ropes to make the fight last a few rounds" "let him hit you to give him a round" affair like the Rubio fight.

Apart from DLH and Trinidad, I can't think of anyone that looked good against Mayorga.

The main point I was trying to make is simple. No Pavlik fight at 160 ever lasted more than 9 rounds. Several of those opponents were tough *******s that had never been stopped. A couple had never been seriously hurt, and at least one had never even been knocked down. In addition there is zero evidence that indicates KP is overly concerned about the loss to BHop. And yet, every ****ing day somebody claims Hops ruined Pav. I think we ought to at least wait until a middleweight manages to go the distance with Pavlik before we pronounce such judgements.

I thought he did ruin Tito - that loss was really the end of his career.

But Tito showed 1000x more heart in his loss to B-Hop, than Pavlik did in his.

Do you want to expand a bit on the sense of that, given that Trinidad came back and beat the stuffing out of Mayorga?

    What?

Pavlik ruined himself as it seems his heart wasnt into that fight.

Trinidad was never the same though! Tito fought some eight months after the defeat & even though he won, you could tell his confidence was not the same! It never has been!

Trinidad was a big favourite over B-Hop & no one really saw him losing, let a lone receivea beat down, which he most certainly did!

My only theory is that guys are usually expecting textbook fighters at that level, and Forrest was a demon of a matchup against those types...but Mayorga obviously wasn't that. Sometimes a guy who's that "bad" technique-wise can have success against the more skilled guy just because it's something new. That's all I could really come up with about it, but it definitely made me think twice about how seriously people take fantasy matchups on here because I don't think anyone saw that **** coming.

DiBella has a vested interest in talking smack about Pavlik. It was Pavlik who threw away HBO's list of pre-approved opponents, and pushed for a Williams fight. Sergio Martinez was on that list. Sergio ask DiBella to get him a fight with KP, but KP wanted Williams. I'm pretty sure Martinez would still jump at the chance to fight Pavlik, and Dibella may feel he needs to keep stirring the pot.

He did ruin Tito, but not Pavlik. He didn't stop Pavlik, so it is up to Pavlik to regroup and prove he can still win against top guys. Tito on the other hand, that was a dismantling.

Both mayorga and vargas are criminally underrated.
