I've always boxed orthodox and find myself hoding back. But when I switch to southpaw I feel alot more confident in my boxing. It just feels so natural. Im right handed, so ofcourse my power punch comes from my right hand, but my left hand is also powerful. Defence wise, I feel like I can block, dodge, perry anything when im boxing southpaw. So, my question is, should I stick with southpaw and work on my left more? Or should I stick with orthodox and work on that?
I dont think I can jab properly from orthodox and I prefer my southpaw jab, but I dont think I have the same power from the left hand over the right.
If southpaw is natural to you, go for it and see how it goes. There's plenty of converted southpaws out there, te most famous perhaps being Hagler.
Also De La Hoya and he has a cracking jab and left hook, go for it if you can do it. I might try it more myself.
