Probably had massive hyperventilation in the locker room, huge adrenaline dump and was tired before the fight started, then he gets whacked on the right ear and lost his balance and coordination. Would explain him not coming out of the locker room on time, him with his arms on the ropes chewing on his mouthpiece before the fight, him saying " why is this happening to me? " in the corner, and him hiring a psychologist again like they had during his amateur days. What was weird was his father yelling at Hearn when Ruiz was being interviewed and Joshua was trying to calm him down, hopefully information comes out as to what exactly has been going on.
Something was wrong, that’s 100% A massive anxiety attack could be correct, I’ve suffered from them periodically and they do seriously scare you, leave you hugely fatigued and can be disorienting. Mine started when I was in the happiest most secure era of my life, I wasn’t worried about anything and had zero stress affecting me. Who knows why they started so it’s not unthinkable that Joshua could suffer from them. I’m not buying a last minute change of guard being the reason for the delay leaving the dressing room, it was something else and they don’t want to share the reason publicly.
i think his system did panic when he got hit and lost his legs. when you get hit like that, your mind is lucid, but your muscles are on a delay, so you overcompensate and end up stumbling around. it can be scary and some people will expend an enormous amount of energy just dealing with whats going on internally.
He did not panic before the fight, the panic crept in when he was down twice. He lost his composure completely, and his ability to adapt to the situation, he kept getting up and make the same mistake with Ruiz. Ruiz was cool as a cucumber even when he got put down. Joshua had his soul SURGICALLY removed following the first two knockdowns. He was under pressure to perform, and hitting the canvas twice just threw him off completely.
A super champ having an anxiety attack against a filler opponent on his first fight out of U.K. Believe me This is the first time that Joshua has ever fought without PEDS, and he freaked.
During fight week, Joshua allegedly told Carl Frampton that after beating Wladimir Klitschko in a topsy-turvy 2017 bout, he had informed trainer Rob McCracken he would "give up" if he needed to be in fights which played out like a rollercoaster again.
I have been saying it for a while the guy will eventually crack under all the pressure, there is so much riding on him and in the last year or so he has suffered heavy criticism due to Wilder and his lies. I also think taking 9 months off in between bouts is ridiculous, you need the wheels greased every so often and cant take months of and come in thinking you will dominate. This has been a costly lesson for AJ and team if he is half the champion people believe he is then he will come back stronger and better.
If you are anxious while having the deck stacked heavily in your favour, then he probably should just quit. Fury would have him sectioned before the fight.
Nah. He just can't deal with pressure fighters and getting hit clean with shots he doesn't see coming. He has suspect chin aswell. He wobbled several times in his career, either as an amateur or as a pro and he didn't even fight a guy like Ruiz who has great handspeed and is fluid combo puncher. Povetkin is a hooker. Old and probably shot, also off the PEDs. He looked not good vs. Rudenko/Hammer/Price. Still he was able to wobble him at the end of the first round. Parker was on his bike and very anxious/cautious, far away from pressuring AJ in any kind with his handspeed and pressure although i think he has good handspeed. Klitschko also no pressure fighter and also OLD and shot + slow. And he wobbled him, dropped him and probably would have stopped him. Whyte landed one good shot and wobbled him. Let's not talk about Quarterback Breazeale or Charles Martin. Same for Eric Molina. Do me a favour. I predicted Miller to beat AJ. I predicted Ruiz to beat AJ. And he was beaten to ****. Ruiz will win the rematch aswell.
Lol Wilder had his weak moments against Gerald Washington, against Eric Molina, against Ortiz, against Stiverne 1, against Fury but he adapted, kept his composure and came right back to win those fights at the end and this is the hallmark of a champion fighter. What i saw in the AJ fight was extremely discouraging and poor and to be honest the hype train looks to be over now that he got in with a first real young prime opponent with the right tool to exploit his frailties
Parker is a sloppy puncher, just compare the sloppy punches Parker was throwing everytime he got inside AJ vs what Ruiz was throwing when he closed the distance.
