I think Khan should employ Manny Steward

He's tall, got good handspeed, a good jab, good footspeed, athletic.

Steward could work on his balance and controlling distance and help him sort out his erratic footwork and protect his chin.

If Amir were to join with Steward now he would have a good deal of time to shape him as a fighter and (attempt) to rule the division once the big dogs (Pacquiao, Mayweather) move on.

Get him pumping out that jab followed by a right, clinching when his opponent is in range, it would work very well for him.

I feel (as a lot of people did, including the scholarly chincheckers) that Khans attributes combined with his style and lack of chin were a KO waiting to happen, I just don't see it as beneficial for him to continue with Freddie Roach, he improved him as a fighter but I'm not sure how much further he can go.

Oh hell no! Manny's track record isn't very good lately. He messed up Taylor's and Cintron's game, Wlad became boring, and Cotto found a better trainer.

I'd prefer Nacho, look how he developed a flawed, fragile puncher Jhonny Gonzalez into a more intelligent and alert boxer-puncher. Both Beristain and Khan speak "gym", so that shouldn't be a problem.

Wlad is boring but he hasn't looked like losing since 2004. Khan doesn't need excitement, he needs effectiveness.

Nacho is a masterful trainer, I just feel for what Khan is capable of, Steward would be a better fit.

Yanno what i think he should do. Learn to box and not trade going in against fighters thinking he will tear them a new ******* because he really does not have the punching power or the chin to match his guts and balls.

He'll never leave Freddie Roach, even though he should

Id agree with that. The shout for Nacho is a good one to but would there be a language problem there? What about sweet pea as a trainer? he might improve Amirs defence>

Maybe steward can teach him to HOLD ON. But I don't know...Khan has no punch resistance. And when he gets hurt, he panics and basically throws the whole game plan out the window.

I underestimated Garcia in the fight, but I've said that Khan is a basic athletic fighter who can't handle pressure. You can tell by Khan's mental makeup by the way he reacts to getting KD'ed. His natural reaction is to get up ASAP. By nature, he's not a thinker. He's a physically talented, medium IQ fighter.

Steward is a master at helping fighters protect their (glass) jaws.

Floyd Mayweather Sr. or Robert Garcia are good choices for Khan.

Steward and Khan wouldn't mix well on personal level IMO.

Nacho is picky about who he chooses to train. He has refused to train Mike Tyson in the past. I'm not sure he would be willing to train someone with a low ring IQ and has direction following problems

One thing that makes me doubt Steward is his reaction to the fight...he said 'Amir Khan didn't do anything wrong'.

    Really?

Steward is a hired gun, but he's very much the boss.

He decides what goes on in camp.... he's no stooge.

Roach on the other hand was quite happy to train Khan on the basis that Khan was willing to accomodate - training in America, the Phillipines, wherever.

I don't think he was 100% committed to Khan at any stage, which given Khan's lack of ring IQ is what's necessary.

    I agree.

He'd take one look at Khan and think ''no thanks''.

He's still basically an amateur boxer. He's got none of the stylistic nuances that are the hallmarks of the Romanza gym.

    No feints
    No mixing up his punches
    Bad footwork

    etc.
