Maybe it's me but I remember him calling Ali overrated, And in some interviews he actually counts beating a shot Ali in 1980 as a win (Even tho he did) and he has a portrait of him beating him in his house. What y'all think???
why do you think he's jealous? Maybe he thought ali was overated because he actually was. Well, that's just my opinion, although I diid think he was really good. Maybe he thought he was overated because he knew he could have handled him even before he got too old. And why the hell wouldn't he count his fight with him as a win? its nice he has that picture on his wall too
Holmes has a huge ego. On an ESPN show with Bert Sugar he modestly rated himself as the #1 heavyweight.
What was he better than Ali at? The only thing he's better than Ali at is Jab and even that's arguable.
Ali always rated himself #1! Its OK for others to do it, but not Larry? Larry was freakin great! He just didn't have a personality that a lot of people appreciated. But he seemed to be a great guy, no stories of him womanizing, draftdodging, or other ****. Didn't end up broke either
Holmes wasn't stronger. When it comes to strength that's applicable to fighting in the ring, Ali had a slight advantage. I'm not saying he'd beat Holmes if they arm wrestled, but when it came to tying up another fighter or holding him and pushing him off, Ali was one of the best. Once he put his hands on his opponent, he made them cease what they were doing. Norton and Berbick both said Ali hit harder than Holmes. I've personally spoken with Shavers and he said Ali hit harder than Holmes.
