Larry knew he could never match Ali. Who really could. He is the modern day standard for great fighter. Everything was exciting about him and he fought everyone and had guys to fight. Holmes did not have the guys to fight like Ali did.
Ali would lose the battle of the jabs v Holmes imo. I think he does better v Ali than Norton did, and we know Ali couldn't pull away from Norton because of the jab !
Larry didn't exactly shine against Norton though did he and surely '67 Ali brings a whole different level of problems than a washed up Norton that took Holmes to the brink. He also offers a LOT more than a green Witherspoon.
Ali actually looked really good against Holmes considering he had Parkinsons. A serious disease. Holmes looked incredible. Sharp. Fast. Powerful. Poised and determined, efficient and cold. And yet, he had to pick apart Ali carefully. Tentatively. He pulled no punches. He took no chances. He looked for openings with deep intent, and didn't miss an opportunity. It was the opposite of an easy, lazy fight. He never looked better. And yet. Ali was so damn great. That his performance where he lost with class, is considered awful. His balance was **** during the face off. He still landed a sharp right that stopped Holmes attack completely for half a round.
Ali's jab was faster and he had more variation to it. He could change it's direction after he threw it.
flicked it to much for me. When he was moving yeah hard to jab with him, but when he come off his toes he could be equalled a lot of the time
Holmes is a malcontent always has been always will be....it his personality and part of what kill s fans appreciation....his comments IMO are mood driven
