I think making Usyk a mandatory was the worst thing for him.

Normally if you can't value Ruiz's skills then this is measure for your skills to value boxer.

 

I do value Andy Ruiz skills, I have always said he is a good technical boxer. The issue is apart from him you hate all other US fighters and AJ.

 

He like those in the know in the trade know JJ is not an easy earner for anybody.

 

Simple stuff: fight with A.J will be better paid than vs J.J and pro boxing is a business at first here and there.

 

Anybody against AJ means much more money for that person because AJ is the monopoly economic A side money maker rainmaker. However AJ will not be available until next year due to 2 fights with Fury so fight why not fight a lucrative pay per view fight with JJ for the interim title especially if you are confident.

 

I imagine once the Fury v Joshua fight becomes official, he will sign to fight JJ

 

Let’s see how it plays out. Both guys don’t have time to waste. There is a good chance the winner and interim champion will be upgraded to the full world champion of the WBO by the end of the year.

 

I'm not sure that he will not retire cos he had event as co prom even before fight vs Chisora.
Maybe he will re consider his future career completely and some grounds there were before fight vs Chisora had happened.
He is also listed as prom in boxrec not only as a pro boxer.

 

I think Usyk might just be stuck in a fight v Joyce.
It is what it is ... and the mandatory has brought this into play. Covid came along at a really bad time for Usyk in particular.

It's a bad thing ... but I think trying to delay Joyce until after F/AJ 1 is the way to go.

 

Turns out the mandatory status for Usyk was far and away the best thing for him. He pressured his way into fighting AJ and took him out.

 

Looks to me like things turned out all right!
