I think his pressure, power and size will stop pac. His chin and durability will allow him to apply those. Ok I know, it's probably not going to friggin happen. But it can! With Manny being distracted, coming off so many huge fights, moving up in weight yet again, fighting a hungry guy who was once viewed as very dangerous. I am just leaning towards the upset in this one.
Same story as his last fights.... distracted, training camp ****.... moving up.... other guy is too big, other guy is training his hardest ever, new trainer, looking sharp.
this is the kinda **** that makes people interested in this mismatch. margo is getting smacked around like a *****
There's only one thing that will set this fight apart, its the fact that Margo is as slow as snail compared to Pac. No upset in this fight, even Bob Arum knows this
If I remember correctly he smiled when he was on the canvas, seeing the predicament he was in...... Fighters smile all the time when they take a shot that they feel....... ......but I'm talking about a different type of smile, the type that say's, "my goodness, I was expecting to feel power." I'm not saying this is what I"m predicting will happen. .....but it sure will be interesting to see Pac unleach at a fighter that is'nt going to mind getting hit with his punches. .......and not that Pac cant win the fight if Margarito is'nt feeling his shots. ......but what will be interesting to see is how Pacquiao will deal with it. Will he do barely enough to win the rounds, or will he be suckered in by the crowd who will want to see Pacquiao to what he's been accustomed too???? Go crowd!!!!:yep
I'll be surprised if he stops him. I don't think he has the power to just lights out guys like Marg or Clottey. I expect a stoppage for humane reasons at best.
Pac's biggest shots didn't affect Clottey one bit and I'm sure Manny knew this. What did Pacquiao do? Same thing as always, business as usual. He just kept unloading and coasted to a UD. It's happened before, open your eyes.
Anyone who thinks this fight is going to be the same as Mosley-Margarito should re-think. For starters, Pacquiao is not a boxer-puncher like Shane, he's a volume puncher. Even against Clottey he was on the front foot almost the whole way through, and when he was put on the back foot there, he got busted up around the eyes, and that was a few uppercuts. Against Hatton, he was just winging punches at times when he was forced back, Hattons **** guard on the night and non existent head movement made things easier than they should have been for Pacquiao, but i dont think Hatton was mentally all there that night, and Pacquiao still looked slightly troubled at times when Hatton was pressuring him in the second round. Pacquiao is faster than Mosley, but his arms are nowhere near as long, so he cant just stand there and beat Margarito to the punch all the time. Also, he has nowhere near the one punch power that Mosley has/had. Pacquiao v DLH and Clottey were total boxing lessons, but there were no knockdowns. Margarito showed in his comeback fight he still has good power in his punches. Up against a solid light middle he still hurt him, put him down in the first, and his left uppercut, bodyshots and right cross looked as hurtful as they had been before. The only thing he lacked in that fight was stamina, but that was understandable given his layoff. Add to that Margarito's career is on the line, Pacquiao has other things to think about besides boxing, and i think you have a reasonably even fight. I expect Margarito to lose the first 3 rounds through pacing himself and Pacquiao using his own speed, but rounds 4 to 8 will be Margarito's, using bodywork and uppercuts to drag himself into the fight. I do think he will tire towards the end, perhaps a result of overtraining and lack of activity, meaning he fades down the stretch, but i think itl be a close fight for long periods. Pacquiao by close but Unanimous decision.
I really don't like Margo but I feel Pac has his hands full with him. Margs has a great chin and Pac doesn't have the same power as Mosely, plus I feel he will need to go to the body and in doing so will leave himself open to massive uppercuts, his defence isn't the best even though the offence is incredible. Margo ran down Cotto and although maybe he had the wraps, the more interesting aspect to me whilst watching this fight again earlier was how many bombs Cotto landed on Tony and couldn't stop him coming. We know Cotto has power but if people remember the situation, this was Margs big shot that he had waited for and seemed as though nothing could stop him. Is he back in the same situation? Manny could be in trouble. I think his best chance is a points win, having more stamina than Cotto perhaps allows him to outbox him for longer and make the 12th with a couple of hairy moments inbetween. I'm going to stick my neck out there and say Margarito stops Pacman in the 10th Round
