Margarito was more weight drained than Mosley was shot.
The spanish scribes had pointed out beforehand Margarito was'nt looking good in the gym.

I buy into the fact that Magarito was weak going into the Mosley fight. Mosley was manhandling him physically at close quarters.
Read into that fact as you will.

    He had chin and workrate

But I believe he used plaster longer than what we believed

I think his mind was not right at all for the Mosley fight and that's why he got beat up so bad. I don't think the same woukd have happened if he hadn't had whatever had in his gloves and wasn't caught.

Shane always had the style to beat Margarito.

KO Power, concrete chin, tough as hell, speed, endurance, willing to take one to land one... Margarito was always going to meet his match with SSM.

Shane is massively underrated in the toughness department.

Yeah, i agree that he was an ordinary fighter who's chin, and workrate bailed him out in most of his big fights. But the thing is since he got caught using the plaster of paris, it put a dark cloud over his career because we don't know how many of his big wins were legit wins.. so with that said, his career will always be tainted.

What the hell did Margarito even do to be rated??? I seriously in 16/7 yrs he has one decent win that is a bit tainted in a lot of opinions vs Cotto outside of that hegot his asskicked by eevery A) time he stepped up just 1 division or B) fought an elite opponent.

One thing I'll say about TR they do a hell of a job promoting because they still got people talking about him an for what?? Wins over Cintron and Clottey what the hell did they do.

They weren't illegal, it was explained how Freddie also wrapped odlh wraps in same fashion and also explained that its not against the commission. What is against the commission is the substance of plaster which it was confirmed by a lab that Margo had.

I noticed you tend to defend Mexican fighters. Being a Mexican my self, I also take pride in rooting for our countryman. But we have to call it like it is, margos hand wraps are a lot more questionable then PACs legal hand wraps that were confirmed to be absolutely fine.

2 Additional wins that I think are decent
He shut out pretty good Roberto Garcia and dropped him, the only losses Garcia had were a very close SD and a close 8 round UD. He hasn't lost since.

Sebastian Lujan is a very underrated journeyman from Argentina and Margarito nearly ripped his ear off and beat the hell out of him.

Shane may be that someone that would have always been Marbgarito's kryptonite, but those who blame Margarito not having plaster in his wraps as to losing to Mosley, cant explain Mosley just outright pushing Margarito around physically.
I know Mosley is strong for a Welter, but not as strong as he showed vs Margarito.

Biggest accomplishment was getting Mayweather to duck him.

That alone should get him into the hall of fame :D

He wasn't overrated when he had concrete. Once Mosley exposed him as a cheat, there was nothing to overrate. He was a bum through and through. He was so ashamed, he retired. Cotto was the final nail in the coffin. He was disgraced on stare down and in the ring. I never seen anybody so uncomfortable as when Cotto showed that pic on the iPad.

    Its illegal!
Sadly, commision inspectors are not properly trained to catch cheats.
When a trainer objects to another fighters handwraps, most of the time an inspector wont do anything about it if you're not the A side of the event.
In the event with Pac-Margarito, Pac was A side, Margarito was just another stupid Mexican.

.......Roach clearly has stated in the past that putting rolled tape between the knuckles is dangerous and illegall. In the DLH-Pac fight, Roach argued vehemently and at least got the inspector to to have DLH use thinner strips of tape between his knuckles, thus not creating the massive ridges that were on Pacquiao's knuckles for the Margarito fight.

FACT......Those ridges are what broke Margario's eye socket and harmed his eyesight forever!

In my opinion, there are a lot of overrated fighters out there. Not just in boxing but also in MMA. Sometimes, the more you talk trash, the more attention you get and as a result, the better fighter you are in the eyes of many people. It's like you will gain a lot of credits from defeating lesser fighters.

There is no proof that Margarito cheated against Cotto and, judging by the way Cotto was starting to wilt in the rematch, he wouldn't need to.
