He was definitely throwing back at Pac...but being in the southpaw stance his punches weren't anyway near effective. Still to say he was backing up and not throwing anything is stupid.
I would stop feeding the troll, just watch and appreciate that 12th round :good how is the marinecore going, when does the bootcamp start?
Is it just me or do most of the boxers coming from Tijuana all have iron chins? Obviously Morales is one of them, and now we have Margarito. Probably a result of the harsh environment over there, eh?:think Anyway, VERY ballsy move by Morales. Some of you people can call him stupid for that all you want. But that's exactly what made him beloved. That certainly why he's one of my favorite fighters of all time. He takes RISKS even when he doesn't have to. I'm at a loss why some people don't appreciate Morales for this.
I think that was a slip in that fight w/ Barrera. The ref did not even rule on that one. But I like Morales, Marquez and Barrera in that order. Morales is a true gentleman. Pinoys love him. He made a commercial for a soda drink and beer in the Philippines. Marquez is disrespectful to Pinoys. The local advertiser withdrew his contract after showing disrespect to Pac and his fans.
I thought that MAB knockdown was a push. I'm a big fan of Morales now, btw. Anyway, props to Morales for winning Pac-EM I. I knew Manny needed to close out the fight hard to have a better chance of winning. When Morales did that switch to southpaw thing, I was thinking "what a ****ing crazy *******." They exchange furious flurries at center ring, and I saw EM get solidly hit a number of times and I thought he got hurt a bit. Pac's activity seemed to go down in the last 30 seconds, when he should have pushed the fight more. Soriano, Harper, let's give Moralse his due. A win is a win. Anyway, we can always watch the Pac-EM II and III fights, were Manny really was the better fighter the whole fight.
Oh my... It was an amazing round. Morales was clearly ahead but he is a ****ing badass and he went in there and switched southpaw, and went hell-for-leather as if he needed the knockout. He always had the tools to be boxer, but he was always about the fans and it's rounds like this that prove it. Balls of steel. It's a shame fighters get old, because I could watch him forever.
I have said fights on my EM collection (a much much recommended purchase for those interested) and the ref was definitely counting so unless they changed it afterwards, It was a KD in my eyes.
I have already given Erik his due recognition as a Mexican warrior and a true gentleman but I can't take their discrediting Pac wins in Fights 2 and 3 sitting down.
Knockdown only in technicality. Refs rule. But it was not a true physically hurt kinda KD in my eyes. Morales kinda got off balanced or had poor footing, and MAB was close. Barrera kinda put all his weight on Morales and because of the weight, Morales got his knees on the canvas. He was really mad at the ref for that. He fought so more ferociously after the referee's count.
Who cares about them. A KO is a KO. Twice too. Dont let their dislike or disrespect for Pac's accomplishment influence your respect for a great fighter like EM. It's just like "hating Pac because of his *******s" only this time, the shoes on the other foot.
The Barrera incident was definitely not a knockdown. Any objective observer knows this, regardless of the official ruling. Of course, as a judge you have to give the round 10-8 because of the ruling, but we all know that it wasn't legit.
I'm not impressed by that win of Erik. But I can give that to him. In contrast, fights 2 and 3 are more impressive and decisive victories for the Pacman.
I give credit for the second fight, but not the third fight. It was clear that he was shot. Second fight was probably Pacquiao's second best win (after the first Barrera fight), as Morales was still a very effective fighter (though he was slipping), and I doubt anyone else would've beaten him that night.
It wasn't anything powerful but a KD is a KD. It's not like Pac was the first one to hurt Morales either. He was most certainly the first to dominate Morales...although Morales was merely a shell.
