so the only questionable recent performance for Oscar at the time was Strum

 

yeah Floyd isn't shot. At least we won't know for sure until the fight comes, but I doubt he is. He still has his technique and smarts to rely on.
Physically Hopkins is shot to hell.

Definitely not shot but he's in decline. Still whoops Pac's ass.

 

The question is not whether or not he's declining. He's 36 years old and certainly is. The question is how rapidly he's declining. It's possible that he's no longer the best fighter in the world, but all he has to be, at this point, is the best welterweight.

Yes, Floyd's slower. He's older. Floyd has compensated for this by adding power. He's stronger now than ever before and his shots are packing more pow. Yes he sacrificed speed to do so.

Floyd's getting touched up in sparring. He's older. Yes. He's also sparring with super young guys. I remember reading about him sparring some Olympian southpaws... meaning young 20's and such. He got tagged in sparring. Not the end of the world.

If he consistently shows up with black eyes then... maybe... well it's time to consider an earlier retirement. Until then Floyd is not shot. He's slower because he's older and he will continue to become slower.

Hopefully he stops fighting before his deterioration outweighs his skills
