I think Paul Williams can beat Kelly Pavlik

I suspect he would lose a rematch to the present version of Margarito.
As for beating pavlik. Give him 2 or 3 fights against increasingly better opposition so we can gauge this subject properly. 1 or 2 of the 3 can be past Kelly opponents.

 

Clearly you havent read my post because I wrote that its a bad matchup for Williams and basically has a punchers chance.

Oh and btw Pavlik could easily move to 175 and would be favoured against a huy like Diaconu.

Williams has the physical tools to be competitive against Kelly, but at this point of his career, he makes more mistakes than Pavlik. When you have two guys who can bang, especially someone like Pavlik, mistakes will get you killed; if not killed, KO'd. This would certainly hold to be an exciting fight. Let Williams move up the ranks a bit at middleweight and work his way to Pavlik - 3-4 fights and he could be ready.

i dont wanasay he cant beat pavlk it just i feel if he really stood a chance at middle weight he would have been already fighting at that weight not at smaller weights and choose to comeup now while others are moving up soon pavlik will move up too second fight at super for him rematch for taylor now hopkins. so yea paul will be a middle weight when pav is a light heavy watch. and who the hell is kolle? i will like to see he climb the rankng through better fighters and then decide he what he can and not do.

Especially if you are going off Williams fight against Kolle (ranked #200 in the us & 898 worldwide). Pavlik would break his ribs & ko him in 8 rounds or less!:yikes

 

First off, Atlas was not a commentator for the Cason fight, 2nd off... that was like 3 years ago.. Pavlik has improved in almost every fight. You're dreaming if you think Paul Williams would win. I like PW a lot but come on-- all of his pyhsical advantages that he normally relies on would not be a factor with Pavlik .

 

Williams has shown me over and over again that he doesn't have especially good instincts when it comes to moving his head. There's a very good chance the well timed Pavlik could catch Paul Williams with the sorts of power shots that could open up the sudden ending of the fight - but if that didn't happen, yeah, it's possible that Williams could win. Team Williams certainly believes that, they're all about targeting slow, lumbering guys, like Margarito and Pavlik, obviously. That's not for no reason.

 

If Fitz thinks Williams can beat Pavlik (based on beating Kolle?), that's proof enough for me that he can't.
