I think Quintana will put another beating on the feather-fisted Williams

    He didnt school him.

He won, yes. Clearly...but in the end, the score was fairly close on all of the cards. Rightfully so I might add. 112-116 112-116 113-115 is hardly a fight where you DONT AKNOWLEDGE EXISTANCE AFTERWARDS!

I said it after the fight, Quintana fought a fantastic fight. He used his superior movement and footwork, his better accuracy and his timing to win...he fought what in all honesty was the perfect fight for him...and still it was close. Williams on the other hand looked slow and flatfooted...and didnt listen to his corner ONCE...something that he had never done in the past (go watch vs Margo how his corner says to do something and he immediately goes out there and does it). I said that if he could work on one thing...and that is getting his feet set and not chasing Carlos...he would win handily if they fought again.

In all honesty, I wasnt sure he could. Quintana has very good footwork, something that a raw fighter like Williams would always have trouble setting against. But, because in the past he has listened to his trainer well...I figured there was a chance. So I tentatively picked Williams by late TKO (tho it was halfheartedly cause I am a fan...but only half LOL).

Well, he did get the rematch. He did work on getting set and not chasing. He did TKO him. In 1! Now your telling me that now he should even AKNOWLEDGE Quintana's existance after that??? I mean, if by your thought Carlos shouldnt have just on the strength of his close (but clear) UD...what does a first round DESTRUCTION rate in that manner?

Paulie - "Aint gonna be no rematch"
    Rocky - "Dont want one"

It's nice to see Williams learned from the loss and was throwing straight lefts with some leverage instead on the slapping hooks he normally throws. He still got hit a lot but remember this guy has gone 24 rounds against Margarito and hasn't been KD or seriously hurt. Cotto would be a different story but PW belongs in the top tier of welterweights. I think he should fight Mosley next.

The first fight was needed for Williams to improve as a fighter. It showed him you can't take anyone lightly & you must be prepared everytime. A third fight would be similar to the second one. Williams is young and getting better. Quitana is 35 & is about as good as he's gonna get

Nice job by Williams of taking that loss and learning from it. Too often, a fighter goes into a tailspin after losing his belt in an upset. Williams was impressive last night, no doubt, and it bodes well for his career.

Sorry, but no one wants to see a 3rd fight. I doubt Quintanna will even pursue a 3rd fight.

I agree with you. Williams should give him a rubbermatch. Carlos could have had a off night like Williams had in their past fight. It is true that it is hard to get a rematch after getting knocked out in one, but Carlos did not have to fight him the second time. Well, unless it was in the contract. I am not going to be a hypocrite, but I did say in past posts that Carlos would lose possibly via decision, but this was shocking. I would give Carlos a rematch to settle it. For all we know, Carlos could get the ko next time around. Stranger things have happened, look at Mora beating Forrest?

Why not...all hail to Quintana. Threads detailing that Quintana could beat this guy and that guy. He loses and now he does not deserve a chance to redeem himself. He can go back to the drawing board and come back with a game plan like the first fight. Now Williams is going back to the most avoided fighter???

I usually don't like trilogies and this is no exception.

Quintana and Williams need to fight other people in order to advance the division; there are too many guys out there waiting for an opportunity as it is.

If they both win, then maybe they can meet again in the future.

Williams should look for Mosley or the winner of Judah/Clottey, and Quintana should go up against someone such as Berto. That would be another good payday and winnable fight for him.

Cotto would destroy Williams. I've always thought this.

At least you manned up to it and bumped your own post. Unlike the others where we have to dig up their old post.

I doubt Quintana will even lobby for a rubbermatch, at least not right away. Hell, HBO wasn't even interested in the rematch. It will be hard to sell a third fight, and once again, Los probably doesn't want to fight him again right away.

I doubt Quintana really wants a rematch. Thats was a devastating loss. He didnt just lose, he got stopped in the first round.
