I think Rico Ramos has a good shot at winning vs Rigondeaux on Saturday

The general opinion of the fight seems to be that Rigondeaux is gonna easily beat Ramos either by UD or TKO and a big part of people think this is because of how Ramos looked in his last fight when he won the title against Shimoda.

He was getting completely outworked and wasn't doing much against the more aggressive but not really to effective Shimoda before he landed that beautiful left hook in the 7th round. Now Shimoda is a southpaw like Rigondeaux but that's where the similarities end. Shimoda is an agressive fighter that throws a good amount of punches but Rigondeaux on the other hand likes to lay back and pick his punches and only throw when he knows he can land.

Now against Ramos that style might not be to effective letting Ramos the much bigger man do what he wants and jab and box and keep it on the outside and land his punches while Rigondeaux is too far away to land one of his grfeat counter shots to the end or body. Ramos isn't Cordoba who was more of as brawler with an awkward style and isn't as good of a boxer that Ramos is plus I think after the Dunn fight Cordoba is the same fighter he was and is past his prime even at his young age.

If Rigondeaux wants to win this I think he is going to have to be way more aggressive then he's been in any of his pro fights and before today I thought it was a mismatch but was still excited to see it but now I can't wait and I really think this is an interesting style match up. Just wish there was a undercard this fight is better weak as a main event and the only fight being shown.

    What do you guys think?

Does no one care? SHould I put Mayweather or Pacquiao's name in the title and maybe it will get some hits?

Rico knocks this punk out in five.

Come on man this is a no contest got no idea why anyone is giving this chump a chance against Suavecito.

Get this out of the way then he's moving up to take on the big guns. Pacquiao/Mayweather winner awaits in 2013 if all goes to plan.

You bring up some good poionts in your assesment ( as usual ) Cash. I'm picking Rigondeaux, and feel he'll be a little more aggressive than what we've usually seen from him. I think he know he needs to do this to make a statement here.

I don't downplay Ramos boxing skills, but I think he'll be caught with nasty body shots while trying to figure out Guillermos uncanny timing, forcing him to second guess his attacks. Both fighters are goiong to have to demonstrate the ability to make adjustments during the fight, if one can't adjust to the other that could be the differance.

It's going to be a chess match, where the first to make a mistake is going to pay. You say Ramos id the much bigger man, how much bigger is he? What's the tale of the tape here Cash?

ramos is not a walk in the park, will be a huge test for Rigo who is gonna deal with someone slicky with decent power( ask shimoda)... if Rigo wants a showdown with nonito he better shine the 20.
    i hope he'll do great

I care. I've just been staying away from the board lately because of all the Pac/May BS. Anyway...

I think he's got a very good chance of winning. It's unpopular to not pick, but this really is 50/50 in my eyes. There are a lot of questions for me about both of these guys. If anything, I'll give a slight edge to Rigo based on skill alone, but I really wouldn't be surprised at anything in this fight.

Been looking forward to it, even tho I still think it'll be a bit of a snoozer. But hey, you gotta put these guys in together to see who's the best. THAT'S what this sport is all about.

if you tune in Saturday, you'll have missed it. It's the headliner of the Shobox tripleheader Friday night.

I just want to see Rigo get busier. He can pile up early rounds on Ramos and really put Rico in a hole where he has to look for a KO.

Rigendoux should be the favorite but Ramos isn't a gimme. I don't think Ramos will win but he'll make it a fight and this will be a nice win for Rigendoux if he wins.

Boxrec has Ramos as 5'5 and Rigo at 5'4 1/2 but from the pictures they have together Ramos towers over Rigo. And they dont have Rigo's reach only Ramos' which is 69''.

Completely agree. Although I hope it's more excited then what I expect but that's asking for too much maybe.

Oh **** didn't even realize that I thought it was a regular Showtime Championship Boxing card. Actually makes more sense to be on show box lets face it they have titles but both are still prospects/suspects with still a lot to prove. And I think everyone just wants to seee Rigo throw some god damn punches because every time he does he lands and lands hard wherever he is aiming.

    Lets hope so.

I thought Showtime was only going to show the main event or one more fight at most. Besides Rigendoux-Ramos which fights are they showing?

First off, I'm just happy this fight is happening. Second, I pick Rigondeaux, but I wouldn't be shocked to see Ramos pull off a win.
