I think Rico Ramos has a good shot at winning vs Rigondeaux on Saturday

I agree with him looking poor in his last fight but i think it was just an off night.

Rigo is way better to watch and definitely agree with the masterful boxer :D

Like I said the general opinion is Ramos will lose big...... people are so blinded by hype and just don't even look at the fighters or there styles when analysing a fight.

The fact that Ramos isnt a bum and will try and keep the fight at a distance and box the much smaller Rigo I think will cause him a lot of problems and for him to win he's gonna have to step up his game and throw more punches and pressure Ramos or he could lose and Ramos wins a stinker.

Anyone who doesn't realize this is a possibility really isn't analysing this fight they are just predicting it off of hype or Ramos' last fight.

You're welcome. Always nice to actually talk boxing and not bitching about who's ducking who and who's thinking this and who's trying to make the other guy look bad and whats the new excuse esp about a fight that isn';t even signed.

They don't realize it's ok to talk about fights that are actually happening.

I got Ramos by decision in a close fight. I like Rigondeaux, but he has miles on the odometer and I don't like his work rate for the pro style.

The only fight I've seen Ramos look impressive in was against Alejandro Perez, a very limited fighter whom has been shown to be severley lacking at the higher levels. Still, Ramos pressed the action and looked fairly capable doing so. Then he fought a better opponent in Shimoda, and looked awful. It wasn't a style thing, IMO, Shimoda has a fairly basic style, even for a southpaw and it doesn't take a master tactician to figure him out. Yet Ramos looked absolutely clueless, let Shimoda box rings round him until he caught him clean.

Rigondeaux doesn't get caught clean. Also, you suggest that Rigo won't be offensive in the fight based on a singular performance - the Cordoba fight. Now whilst Ramos looked poor against Shimoda - not because of style issues - due to him being 'not that great' as a fighter, Rigo arguably looked less than Stellar against Cordoba because of Cordoba's guile and tricky style. It's not easy to have success against Cordoba, he's a very difficult fighter to establish rythm against, because Rigo couldn't get his rythm going, he looked poor. Still, I reckon Ramos lost more rounds against the inferior Shimoda than Rigo did against the quality Cordoba. In every other fight I've seen Rigo in, he's gone out and battered his opponent.

This suggests to me that the Cordoba fight is the exception, not the rule. So why, against a less able opponent than Cordoba, would he not be offensive when it is in his very nature to do so (like when he slaughtered Casey?).

Ramos is not tricky, his style isn't difficult to figure out and combat. Rigondeaux is faster, more accurate, powerful, has better timing and is smarter. He'll make mince meat of Ramos IMO.

We shall see, I don't put much into the Shimoda fight because I figure Ramos was over looking him and looking for the single shot, which is why Shimoda hung around, once Ramos started to open up and stop looking for the single perfect punch, through he was able to make an opening for his shot.

Rigo has a nice slick style, it will be hard to land that perfect shot, I think it will be up to Ramos to make the fight, that being said, if he can effectively apply pressure, which I think he has all the physical tools to do, I can see him taking a lot of rounds from Rigo and getting the decision.

We all glean different things from fights. Like you think Ramos had an off night. I don't, but I can understand you view completely, cos' Ramos has looked sharp and aggresive in other fights and it seemed fairly out of character for him to be so negative against Shimoda. Maybe the occasion got to him then? Then maybe it will get to him again. Shimoda was a world title fight, Ramos's biggest fight. Rigondeaux is a bigger fight, so we can't be sure whether Ramos may hypothetically freeze up again.

If he's aggressive, maybe he beats Rigo. It's a lot to bank on though IMO.

Rigo cant go careless either, Ramos has more skills than Casey who is a tough brawler but very limited skillwise.Rigo should be aggressive but cant be open for Ramos. It will take a couple of rds for Rigo to start launching his big body shots to get Ramos open and go for the killing.

Even me, I don't know why but I think this is going to be a hard fight for Rigo. I feel that Rico will pull it off.

Rigo standing a couple feet back? :think why the hell would he be standing back during a face off photo shoot? They are right there in front of each other.

But, yes, I agree Ramos does have a big strangely shaped dome. :D

this is a 50/50 for me... such a great match up... i think Rigo gets a lead on the cards and Rico looks for the KO but just doesnt quite get there... Rigo wins 7 to 5 type affair
