At Rigo's height and weight. He actually has the option of moving down to 118, and he should if the rest of the 122 pounders continue to be *****es. I need to see more than just that last fight. He took that fight against Francisco on a few days notice, literally. The fight that he had lined up wasn't for a month still, and he had just started training for that one. He was clearly not in the gym during his time off. His timing, both offensively and defensively was noticeably off. He got hit with some good ****, but ate them no problem. He will look much better next time out. If not, then hang them up.
Rigo better have a plan B, in the next big fight he will get robbed, he needs to understand outboxing an opponent 10/12 will not guarantee him a win, because more & more people in boxing feel he is not good for biz. He will whine later about how he was robbed, if he doesn't want to use his skills to deliver a KO, he needs to retire intact & walk away now
rigondeaux himself said he could move up to featherweight.he could move down to 118 and nobody would fight him there either he would have no belt and his options would be even more limited than at 122. @ 126 lomachenko was ready and willing but rigo refused then loma offered him a catchweight fight @ 124 and rigo still refused.FUK you rigo you lost one of the few fans you had but judging by his attitude Im sure rigo doesn't care haha.
Rigo Loma is clearly the fight to make and if it were pretty much anyone else I'm pretty sure Rigo would happily move up but it is Loma waiting for him so...
I don't even want to see Rigondeaux vs Lomachenko anymore after thinking about it properly, for the following reasons: 1. Rigondeaux made his name in the bantamweight division. Lomachenko in featherweight AND lightweight. Completely different divisions. 2. To make point 1 worse, Lomachenko demanded a rehydration clause of 137lbs. He barely comes in at 137lbs, he should have agreed to be no higher than 132lbs if he fought such a small guy. 3. Lomachenko can't make 124lbs without being weak and dead. Remember Lomachenko was fighting at lightweight at Olympics 2012..it's almost time for the next Olympics. 4. Rigondeaux maybe a boxer, but as a fighter he is a boring coward Rigo would stink up the place, he would potshot and run for the hills and fool some people who are desperate to see themselves as knowledgeable boxing fans, preach how good of a 'boxer' he is. So underwhelming.
I said Rigondeaux's division is avoiding him so I don't see how your response addresses anything I've said. Also if moving up is what you're "supposed" to do when you're avoided in your division, then why won't Lonachenko fight Walters? It seems his team's solution to being avoided is to call out a smaller opponent.
Rigo's only shot is fighting the Frampton-Quigg winner or Loma. Due to his inactivity, all of these fights would be problematic. He'd be giving up the size advantage to Loma, who's arguably his only peer in terms of amateur achievements. The longer he waits on Frampton-Quigg, the more it would have to favour his opponent. I interviewed Frampton a few years ago (before Rigo had won a title) and he told me he regarded him as the best fighter at his weight and the greatest amateur of all time, so I think he would only take the fight if Rigo looks ready to fall.
Ok but sit and wait, still he is the one on command .... and a real man not like the other two chickens in that 122 ... He would defeat These two with 40 ...
No I think its plain to see his slipping and the winner will have a ton of confidence and the risk reward of beating Rico will finally make sense
His major problem is that shaky chin. I expect him to get starched repeatedly if he continues his career.
