It made no sense to pick Gonzalez in this fight he was tailor made for Russell. I guess too much wishful thinking.
Reason being that Lomachenko made him look a bit ordinary but people never really bothered to see why. It wasn't just the power, the main problem for Russell was footwork and Lomachenko going in and out and side to side at ALL TIMES, Lomachenko didn't let him settle and pick his shots for a second which is why he did lots of "flurries". Gonzalez on the other hand is fairly straightforward, basic. I was fearing that that his reach advantage would cause Russell some problems but he negated it with speed completely.
I hear you but Russell will always beat come forward guys like Gonzales he can beat them to the punch all night has enough power for them to respect him and can land on them almost at will. He's kinda like Mosley who also dominated that style but had problems with boxers and movers and Russell is the same. Russell will beat Mares or LSC but always lose to Rigo or Loma due to their movement.
