There are clear guidelines set by the organisations and board inspectors are supposed to make check weights regularly, if they do how can fighters who get checked 10 days before a fight weigh the same 2 days before a fight? Don't make sense playing with the ruling and boxers health

Go back to the day of the fight weigh in is the only real answer for fighters boxing at there correct weight

    Dangerous?

How dangerous do you think is putting 15-25lbs in less than 24 hours?

Well maybe boxers should be coming in closer to their fight night weight on the scales rather then dehyrating themselves in order to fight in lower weight divisions.

Abolish weigh-ins. Instead, boxers should be classified on the of average of 6 controlled weight measures each year. That could reduce dehydration before fights and also encourage better habits between fights. Just think - under my system Ricky Hatton would have fought at SMW !

Going back to same day weigh-ins is the best solution trainers and managers have a duty of care towards thier fighters . Also it's equally unhealthy putting on nearly a stone the day before a fight also you should factor in just how dangerous it is for a fighter to give away 10lbs on fight night .

its a can of worms.....i was initially against returning to same day weigh ins but i suppose it makes most sense?

if a fighter really boils down to make a weight they really should not be fighting at then they are going to be shocking in the ring if they weigh in the same day...its encouraging fighters to box at the wrong weights atm

It's not helped by the endemic use of diuretics in boxing..

Boiling down and catch weights - not a fan of either. OK as the exception to make certain fights but seems to be becoming the norm. Unfortunately it will probably take a serious injury or worse before something is done

Glenn McCrory wrote about this from a promoters perspective - I hadn't thought of it that way but it makes a lot of sense and can't be good for the sport

We both know over the years fighters get tipped off on this and have been known to slip out the back door

its obviously the elephant in the room on this forum...which is a shame imo because there are some knowledgeable people on here
